evo parts??

im building my 95 gsx from the ground up. i would like to know which parts i can use out evos such has interior parts and engine wise. i know i could use pistons and rods what bout valves? and can i use a steering wheel out of a evo without a problem? so i would like a list of everything i could use that bolts on without a problem?

You've probably noticed a lot of people use the Evo seats, wheels, brakes, rotors, bov's, etc.
However, i'm not sure about engine parts.

On another note, most evo owners or people selling parts (in many cases, sometimes you can find deals) will want an arm and a leg for parts. You may as well buy parts that are new and perform better for a bit more than use evo parts.
 
I know I'm lazy. I only got my phone and it takes forever to search.
So you don't have to spend 4 hours searching using your phones 3G network, heres a few things I know of.

Engine:
Pistons, rods, & only the valve train from an evo VIII since the IX's have MIVEC.
Other stuff:
Evo IX bov, MAF, brembo brakes (with JDM galant front knuckles), wheels, & shift knob. I know with some imagination you can run their seats as well but ILLiCliPSE has the only dsm I've ever seen with them. I've been trying to get a set of just the front Evo IX Recaro's for about a year now for less than $600 and the guy's selling them laugh at me for low balling them.

Really I'm not sure what model Evo your talking about so if your asking about ANY Evo then...
Evo I-III turbo, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, o2 sensor housing, and the motor. (its a 7-bolt too)

well im friend totaled his evo 9 and said i could take whatever i want out of it so thats mwhy im asking.

Sorry bout that. And I have another question could I use the evo 9 pistons and rods? I searched and couldn't find any info on this. I saw a thread bout it but can't find it anymore
 
You can use the pistons but I think the rods are a no go. You can take them to a machine and see if the close enough to the 7 bolt rods to work.

Pistons - YES!!
Rods - Probably No.

Though you will probably want to have a set of rods machine to fit the evo 9 pistons. Also I would suggest eagle h-beams if you want to make more than about 350 horsepower. 350 is pushing the limits of the weaker 7 bolt rods.

I think dsm graveyard has some custom rods that are 6 bolt oem rods made to fit 7 bolt crank.
 
I'm running Evo 8 valve springs and retainers. The valve springs have a beehive style to them and the retainers are much lighter. The stock ones are something like 14grams a piece, and the evo ones are 3grams. Big difference. I got the set for $40 shipped.
 
So the rods fit? Thats awesome. Every company I see selling these online it's evo Pistons on 6 bolt or 7 bolt rods. Maybe because the DSM rods are cheaper?

Also in my experience the search feature on forums is pretty fail and never finds what I am looking for.

11g X 16, that's a lot. It's almost half a pound. At 7-8K rpm, it's definately a couple of HP.

P.S.: Search kicks my ass. I almost never start a thread out of the Hangout.
 
Those are nice seats. I wouldn't pay 600 for them though.

That's a steal of a price of he could get them for it. Considering Recaros are over $600 a piece and up to a grand. Price is in the eye of the beholder. If you're not into cornering or world-class seating, then stock seats are fine. It depends on what you're after.

That and LOL @ brown finger. So I am confused can you or can you not use the rods?

The are still someone else's leftovers. I am not gonna go pay 600$ for recaro's out of anything that has been used. Especially if it is a 5-6 year old car. Or are we talking about the EvoX seats?

That is what I plan on doing if I keep the car. I just got an offer for it 3100. They asked if they could come check it tomorrow during the day time.

If they wanna give me 28-3100 I will let it go and fix the Talon. Since I payed 2400 for it and all I have done is an oil change, new BOV and some gaskets.

Even if the 2g crank is cheaper I am gonna use the evo crank for peace of mind.

I will have another 2g but getting one DSM that is in tip top shape is more of a priority so I can make some SCCA events this year.
