Looking at a 3g eclipse GT, slapstick. 82k. Its a 2000, price is 3700. Bodys good, paints good, no smoke, no noise, good tires. What do you guys think. Its a 3.0 v6. I'm actually wanting it for a DD.

I own a 2003 8g Galant, which uses the identical powerplant and driveline. Can't comment on the 3g body, but my 8g has been great. I have owned it since 2004,
and in that time, I have done nothing but regular maintenence. Great car in my opinion.

What kind of mileage did you put on it? My last DD was a pontiac sunfire..I know a girly car but it was economical. I put about 12k before the tranny let go on me.

I have a 2001 Galant ES-V6. Had it since 2003 with 30,000 miles. It has 117,000 now.

The only thing I have had to do besides regular maintenance is replace the lifters in the back head at about 105k. Only 2 were collapsed, but I just replaced them all in the back head since is kind of a PITA to get to. Got 12 of them from parts dinosaur for about $70 shipped.

FYI, a front strut bar makes a tremendous difference in handling. Probably more so with the heavier Galant body.

The rear cat can be removed with no CEL. There is one precat off each exh mani and the rear O2s are after those. Picked up some needed low end torque after removing it, which was definitely noticeable.

MPG 20/city 26/hwy.

I don't know what a slapstick is, but ONLY use Diamond ATF in the tranny if it is an auto. The dealer has started using BG as a suitable replacement, but DON'T use Dexron. I actually just pay extra for the Diamond when I get a tranny flush, which is about every 15-20k. It doesn't seem to like any longer between changes. I tried to let it go to 25k before, but the shifting wasn't as smooth.

I'm expecting at least 200k out of it, and the wife loves it.
