Hey guys Windows 7 was just officially released Oct. 22nd. I utilized their offer for a coupon to upgrade to 7 if I bought Vista a month ago. Of course, what did I do, I bought Vista Ultimate to upgrade my machine from XP and sent in all the necessary paperwork to get my free copy of 7.

Well, I just received my copy of 7 yesterday and installed it last night. All I have to say is that it runs a hell of a lot faster and seems to use less processes than vista.

Who else has been running 7 and how do you like it. Are there any glitches I should watch out for? I've got a little bit older machine but it seems to run fairly well on this. So far so good. Everything has been compatible with it. :thumb:

It just showed up in my MSDN account so I'm in the process of downloading the Pro version. Not sure if/when I'll get around to installing it because all of my computers are too old to run it. Maybe I'll try and install it on my brother's computer to see how it is.

What are the specs on your machine? Maybe I can run it on mine, just not optimally.

I've read some really good things about it, especially compared to Vista. Boot time, faster in general, nicer looking, etc. I'm really glad to see this has some more speed compared to Vista - it's so darn slooooooow.

I'm running win 7 pro, 64 bit. It's on a fairly old computer as well. Heres my specs: Amd 64 35000+,Socket 939, 1gig of ram, 7600gt video card, 160 gb hard drive. The only thing I wish I had was another gig of memory, as you really should have atleast 2gig for 64 bit windows. It runs really well on here surprisingly, I am impressed compared to vista. I'm waiting for another 3 months then I'll build an i7 core. The only issues I have is gaming with any punkbuster enabled game, it gets ping spike for some reason. Any steam game is fine tho, thats the only thing Ive got to tweak a little.

Mine is an old Compaq Evo D510 2.40Ghz P4 w/ 1gb of RAM running Windows 7 32 bit.

I'm going to start looking through Craigslist for some cheap machines that the yuppy people around here can't seem to fix.

I have been running windows 7 RC for 5 months on both my 32 bit laptop and my 64 gammer rig.

Specs laptop
Intel 1.4 ghz cpu
512mb ram
80gig sshd
Only had one problem and it was a driver
Runs fast loads quickly

Spec desktop
AMD phenom ii x4 940
8 gig ddr2
2x 1200watt power supplys
Theromtake liquid cooling with external raidator
8x 1 tb SATA hdds in raid set up
3x 9800 GTX's in sli mode
Foxcon Destoyer MB
Thermotake Mozart TX case

MB temp/ OC program does not work in 64bit (Not windows 7's fault)
I love how quickly it loads and how well it runs

I was debating on Windows 7 so far...My personal home desktop runs XP which is great in my eyes....I have 2 laptops both DELLs Vostro 7000 and 7200 and both have Vista which sucks...completely slow load times...My home desktop is like 01-02 model and its faster than my 2 laptops....

Been using it on 2 computers since Beta 1 back in early January. I love it. I got my keys from my MSDN membership in September and have been using the licensed version since then. The new visuals and interface upgrades are great, and it has the same foundation as vista, so no driver issues like vista had in the beginning (overrated and not MS' fault).

I encourage those with Vista or XP to give it a shot. Home Premium is $100 shipped on NewEgg.

I noticed the DSM community is not really tech savy. People are in awe if you admit your monitor is running a resolution greater than 1024 x 768.

Also if your digital camera is other than a weak cell phone camera.

Lol.... some.... ;)

Me <----------- Software Developer :p

I love Windows 7. :D When I installed it (at midnight), I ended screwing around with it until 7:30 am.... hooked instantly. Everything is so nice and runs faster.

Go Microsoft for actually putting out a good OS.:thumb:

I'm a software project manager/engineer/re-engineer. Have been running 7 since beta and did the whole "key trick" to not have to install it again. It works fine w/minor issues. I will be changing to a clean install tonight since my new hard drive finally came in (i didn't want to risk losing my data). I am running a dual processor/quad cores/8gb.

HEY! We (some of us) can figure out the 1G ECU, can't we? Shouldn't that be good enough?ROFL I got MMcD onto my palm IIIc. It still has the old owner's name in it, though.
I'm glad 7 is better than Vista. I bought the GF a Vista system a couple of years back, mostly so I could swipe the monitor and printer that came with the package. I sure am happy I stuck with my old XP machine, but I'm also sure it will eventually blow-up someday.

BTW, I have a top-of-the-line 3.1 mega-pixel Olympus from 2001. It only weighs 2 lbs., and fits very nicely in the trunk of my Eclipse:thumb:

I've been putting it off since I can't upgrade without a fresh install. I downloaded it and will probably install it Monday.

Anyone using windows7 on a logging laptop? I just purchased a new Vaio which surprisingly willcome with Vista64 but I'd like to move to win7 and I just wanted to know if anyone is using a serial > usb adapter with evoscan and a wideband?

My logging laptop is way too old to run 7. If you did indeed just buy the laptop and haven't purchased windows 7 yet, then look into this program from Microsoft to get a free upgrade. Send off all the necessary paperwork and wait for it in the mail. They said you could wait up to 6-8 weeks before receiving it. It was released the 22nd and I got mine on the 27th.
