I've noticed on this site that the turbo guys and N/A guys are two totally different groups. I was just wondering what made you guys choose one in the first place. I know for me its because there are only 420a's availablewhere i live but i was wondering everyone else's story. Was i the only one that didn't know there was a difference until i got one?

Because the turbo makes it faster... :idontknow:

When I bought my '90 GS I wanted it just because it was an Eclipse and love the 1g styling. At that time I did not know there was a turbo model.

Upon looking for parts and discovering that there was a turbo model and above that a turbo AWD model, I had to get a turbo one.

Some old lady pulled out in front of me and I T-Boned the GS and her insurance totaled it out. I promptly bought my first turbo awd DSM.

I was 16, and had loved eclipses since I was like 8. Looked high and low for a good awd dsm for my first car. Couldn't find any in my area. At that point a bought a 2001 eclipse (i know i know, give me a break) to have as a daily driver and I was gonna get a dsm as a weekend warrior/track car. Well one thing led to another and I ended up with a 3g eclipse running 17 psi stock block on a 16g, had no traction EVER (2.4L+16g=15 psi at like 2500-2600 rpm)....and to make matters even worse I ended up toasting my tranny, so I swore I'd never mod a fwd ever again in my life. Rebuild my tranny, returned to stock, and sold the 3g to my brother and bought my 97 gsx. Threw the 16g and front mount and shitty universal piping into my gsx. And broke into the 13s my first run. Something I'd been trying to do in my 3g FOREVER....gotta love awd!

You need to look around my friend turbo DSM's are here in MS...I got a N/T becuase I dont want the hassle of working on the 4G63t every other dayROFL..:D:cool:

I looked for 8 months before I ended up getting my 90 GSX. For me the decision was easy, turbo and awd for around the same price as a 420a, atleast around here. And like Mitch86 said boosts turns me on as well. Also there are alot more reasonable options for upgrading with our motors compared to yalls.

Well I wanted to get a car that was cool, I didn't know to much about Dsm's until purchasing on. I knew about turbos and what they did and how they increase the engines horsepower with free power. Unlike superchargers. I didn't want to get a little sports car that wasn't boosted already because if it came down to me wanting to boost it I didn't want to have to go through the hassle of turboing a non turboed car. It's not to hard, But you dont get nearly as much outa the 420a motor as the 4g63.
But there is a kinda upsetting thing about turbo cars. they always seem to have some kinda little problem. they are always breaking down, It's like maintenance, maintenance, maintenance. you always have to keep up with it.

A lot of N/A people buy the N/A Because they don't know any better.
They think it is the same car, and cheaper.. They will just turbo it later (or swap the motor). Then when it is too late they learn that it is a whole different beast and just live with it, or try and sell for a turbo model.

Boost is addicting and I needed another reason to spend all my free time in my garage. Seriously, I got addicted while driving with a friend in a 91 GSX and never looked back.

Im not capping on people but I couldn't agree more. I JUST WANTED ONE, so I waited 9 years to buy my gst. I can't stand driving a N/A Mitsubishi. No power for n/a, 4 or 6 cylinder and I didn't want to drive it looking all nice until a 1.6 liter vtec lines up and dust me in it. Honda is the only way to go N/A. I figure if I wanted Mitsu. I have to get turbo and there is no other way, PERIOD!
When I got desperate, I did once thought of just buying a gs and turbo it later. Lucky I didn't take that route, feww!

i turbo charged my ford focus ages ago.

after witnessing the amazing world of boost i had to have a boosted dsm when the time came to buy another car after i blew up the focus.

boost....it gets you laid.

Honda is NOT the only way to go N/A, a V8 motor is, does a much better job of making up for lack of boost...

...where the hell are our avatars?

I don't know about down there but here in Horn Lake (5min south of memphis) everyone that has a turbo is either a 1g or doesn't want to sell. plus they are all ragged out pieces of crap.

I got "stuck" with a '93 GS. Back in '95, my Mom bought my sister a new car, so she told me the Eclipse was now 'mine'. I joined this sight because last year the dealership started telling me that they didn't feel like dealing with my old-ass car. I knew that I was in love forever with my car since about '96. Then it got totalled in August '09. Since having joined here, I knew it was inevitable that I was going to end up with a boosted one.

BTW, I live in Normal, IL; for me, DSM ownership is manditory.

I wanted to keep my '93, sell my Accord, and buy a nice GST. '93 got smashed, then I sold the Accord anyway. I immediately bought a rusted-out POS 92 GST. Then I found an immaculate 94 GS, not a speck of rust, pristine paint, an engine compartment you could eat out of, same color as my old car.:hellyeah:

So now I have an ugly, banged-up GST DD, and a trailer-queen NT that I have vowed to never drive and only ever rub it with a diaper. Like Cameron's dad's Ferrari.WTF

And yes, I do someday plan to swap the turbo engine and harness into the '94.

Well my first car was a 98 GS. I messed with that for two years then realized I needed to get something with a manual tranny. I wanted another DSM but I probably would have killed myself back then with a boosted car so I settled for a V6 Tiburon 6speed. After modding that for two years and realizing I wanted boost BAD, and missing my Dizzum bad, I sold the Tib and got back behind the wheel of my 98 GSX and couldn't be happier at the moment.

Well to me boost is like a drug first turboed car I drove was a 89 probe gt it felt ok till I got my talon now I can't resist driving turboed cars, one of which is my buddies evo with about 600whp

I did a lot of reading on here and asking questions first. There weren't any GSX's around my area either but I found a guy on the internet about 300 miles away and I drove up to meet him to check out the car and I bought it on the spot and drove it back home.
