I've been seeing a lot of people being ripped off around here lately. But what I do not see is you leaving negative feedback for them. So now you are just letting other members buy things blind off of these thief's. Seems like I'm the only one leaving negative feedback. Do not cry if you are not going to help fix it.

Good call Charlie. We've put the tools in place to empower the buyers/sellers. People just have to use them. Here's a new feature we just added to the site that will allow you to quickly find ALL ratings for ALL members of the site:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/itrader_main.php

You can find this feature in the Marketplace pull down menu in the top navigation, titled "Member Ratings/Feedback".

The only reason I can see that guys do not use the tools is laziness. I think if possible we could help this by maybe adding their buyer/seller rating right by their name(kinda like ebay has it). Not sure if this is possible or not.

That has already been implemented in the new classifieds system that will be made live soon - just working out one last bug. Just wait, you guys will like the new system ;)

cant wait i need to put some stuff up on there for sale haha

Lmao at the "Hall of Shame". Reminds me of the "Slammer" publication or old Wanted signs in the old west.

Couldn't agree more. Also don't forget about leaving positive feedback for a good transaction, which while not as important, is definitely more often overlooked.

Can't wait for the new classifieds!

Exactly, I do believe positive feedback is very important also. That at least shows that people are using the feedback.

Chris, I can't wait to see some more of the new stuff. So far I like a lot of what's changed.

my only question is that if you sell to a new member, when they become proven status, can they at that point leave you pos./neg. feedback, or is there a time limit?

They can leave it for you then. Although, a lot of the new members I've dealt with either never make it to proven status or I forget to ask them once they get bumped up.

It would be nice if there was a way around this so that we could validate that there was actually a transaction to allow feedback left for instead of someone leaving feedback for themselves. But that's probably more work than it's worth.

yea, i was just wondering, cause i've sold at least 40 items in the last two months, mostly to new members.
but also it is like a catch 22, cause say if i sell someone a perfectly good part and they put it on there car and as they become a proven member and the part breaks( for what reason who knows), then they tell you that they want a refund or they will give you neg. feedback?. it is almost like anyone that is a new member gets a warranty, whether you like it or not. they have that GRACE period of say two months before they receive status , to leave feed back
i hope you are understanding what i'm trying to say

Yes, they can leave you feedback. There's no time limit on when a member can leave another member feedback since the feedback is not physically tied to anything. The only time limit is on when a member can post a rebuttal (or reply) to feedback they've received - not to be confused with the action of leaving another member feedback. You'll notice in your feedback/ratings, you have the ability to reply to each feedback post now. So if someone leaves you negative feedback, you have the ability to reply and give your side of the story right there for everyone to read.

As far as the inability for New Members to leave feedback, I'm open to suggestions on that. I've taken away their ability to leave feedback because we found people registering fake accounts in order to pad their own positive feedback, which is obviously fraudulent. I'm concerned about the ones we didn't catch. If you guys have ideas on how we can allow New Member feedback but prevent people from doing that, I'm all ears.

Which I just touched on - you can easily reply to negative feedback you've received to tell your side of the story so that the world can read and consider.

It's hard to leave feedback when you're not a proven member. I have 3 people I'd like to leave feedback for, but I can't.

Wow, never even thought about doing that. I'd definitely say to keep them from posting feedback. Rather safe than scammed.

I understand the reasons why these rules are in place. But it gets frustrating for a newbie like me, I have totally rebuilt my car and then some, every time i need help or have to research something I search for it and find it. but I'm still a newbie I can't sell stuff or give feedback. The last thing I want to do is put stupid answers or articles on here and get slammed. this website is my bible. my too cents.

chris, i understand what you are saying, but i'm saying it because even though now i'm able to give my side of the story, but i am the type of person who would not want to have any neg. feedback, even with my version. i hope you understand this.
i dont think that a new member should be able to leave either neg. or pos. feedback , and if they buy something while a new member, beat the item to death then it breaks, then the person that is a honest seller will be shafted.its either give me a refund or i will leave bad feedback.
maybe new members should have a time limit on how long after they purchase an item to leave feedback while being new

What's preventing this same scenario from happening with Proven Members right now?

There simply is no possible way for me to put a time limit on when a member could leave feedback because the feedback would have to be tied to a transaction, which we have no way of keeping record of. I understand you don't want any negative feedback, but it's a risk we all take. That's why the reply feature was implemented though, so we can at least try and give our side of the story. It's the only fair way to handle it.

You can easily click the Unanswered Threads link, find questions you know that have been answered and link to the answers without people slamming you. That's the easiest way of racking up 50 posts quickly... not answering the questions, but posting links to the answers for people. Most of the time people just need to be shown where the answer to their question is. That's better than guessing an answer to a question.

With the way the economy is I wouldn't buy a part off an online source person to person type. Money is very tight and looking at the wall of shame list and some of the others were the guy sold the same set of cams to 3 seperate people and never shipped them. People will do anything for money now and I wont give them my money.

I had a bad experience on here twice. Once I sold a starter to James and I had no clue that it was bad and I feel like an ass and tried to make it right but he was cool and used it as a core. I didn't sell it for much at all so it was worth the core. Now I bought a FMIC kit from a guy that wasn't too far from were I lived and with his constant lies I found out his local forum and found out that he wasn't the best of people and tried scamming a couple of other people. I told him if it didn't show up that week I was making a trip to his house and woot it showed up on friday. some people you just cant trust and its so hard to give your hard earned money for.

I've had nothing but good experiences selling things online lately, and not just DSM parts. I guess it's all about what you do to protect yourself. You'd be surprised how many people contact me asking for help because the person they sent money to won't reply to PMs... and they don't have a phone number, email address, or home address for that person. It's amazing that people don't take any precautions with online transactions, but they don't.

I'd agree that right now people are more desperate for money than ever before, and if you're going to buy or sell something online, you should be taking every precaution possible to protect yourself. We list several tips to help. I just wish more people read them.

Exactly! If you don't at least have a name and number that you have tested why in the world send them money?

I've had nothing but good experiences buying from the classifieds on here....ebay is a different story. I agree everyone should get with leaving feedback after making a purchase from the classifieds and I'll be sure to do so in the future.

On a related note, I think everyone should be leaving reviews/ratings when doing business with supporting vendors. Lets face it, they contribute a lot to our community but they also make good money from our community. By leaving legitimate reviews and ratings one would hope they would use the criticism to make themselves better. Would it be possible to implement in the ratings section something similar to what ebay does? Instead of just 1 - 5 stars break it down into categories? Vendor communication, Vendor shipping time, etc. I think people would be more likely to check a few more stars than writing a full review.
