does your girlfriend/wife get jealous that you spend more time on cars than with her?

I was just wondering this lately, if im in the same situation as anyone else. When i work on my cars, I have to drive home an hour and thirty from school. My girlfriend stays where I go to school. Ive been paying a lot of attention to cars and school work than taking her out. I see her every week, but im mostly busy doing homework, so i dont get to see her long. Shes been giving me a hard time lately. I think she just needs to understand that its like my job, I bought the cars, fixed them and im selling them. I dont have a real job, but im doing what i enjoy. She works about 40 hrs a week. Im wondering if anyone has a girlfriend or wife that loves them so much that, they wont give you a hard time about it no matter what. anyone want to share?

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones then. My wife has fully supported me while working on my car and has never complained once. Shes even helped clean up and put away my tools on a few occasions. We'll see if that still holds true when my new motor gets here next week.

...now if I can only get here to wear one of those pit-bunny outfits the chicks wear on the grid for F1 races I'll be all set!

Cars have caused break ups over the years for me- my one fox body mustang a few times when i was younger- but my wife that ive been with 8 years is great she buys me parts and helps me work on my cars/trucks/offroad toys and everything else because she knows i make money when i buy/sell and trade shit so shes great about it and overlooks the 13-14 cars and trucks and shit in our yard

Im glad im not the only one going threw this, but she right. Its not fair that when i got my school $ i bought 2 eagle talon tsi to fix up, and I dont take her out. Im still young though. She wont help me on the cars at all, but i wont make her doing anything. Id rather spend time with her than to work with her anyways. I think we will find a meeting point. Her kia has a timing belt that is 7k miles over due. We think at least. It doesnt look bad, but who knows. Looks maybe deciving.

Call me the other side of the coin, my wife doesn't get upset that I work on or mod the car, she just requires an equal upgrade level for her GSX. Its getting really spendy buying 2 of everything and as God/Fate would have it all the parts for her 2.3 are here and I am still waiting on my rods and crankshaft. At this rate her new engine will be done and ready for install before mine, the irony is her car has been running for the last 4 years, mines been down. WTF

My GF got all drunk 6 weeks ago. She started yelling at me that I was "disgusting" for spending so much time looking for a new Eclipse (my 15 year DD got totalled). She said I should be spending that time paying attention to her and her son. I didn't say anything back to her at the time; once she's drunk and yelling nonsense, you just have to let her go. Usually by 1 am she get's all tuckered-out, and there wasn't too much whiskey left in the bottle. I wanted to say "Why don't you get a job, loose some weight, and realize that I'm not married to you, and I didn't knock you up!". But instead, I just resolved to buy 2 Eclipses...
I think that, more than anything, she was totally pissed-jealous that I had $ 4000 cash-money to do whatever the hell I wanted to do with it.

Some ladies actually have interests, goals, pursuits, etc..., but lots of them live in a world that revolves around having someone "pay attention to them" while they sit and spew meaningless crap out of their mouths while their whole entire life slides right by.

my wife loves that i build/mod my car, and i just spent over 5k on it too and she still loves me and the car ... the only problem is that now she wants a Spyder GST, and wants me to teach her how to work on it ..

When i picked up the laser (the 5th dsm i've owned) i spent the majority of my time in the garage for the first 3 weeks before things started to slow down with the car. My wife said "we need to talk about the car" just in time as i was getting caught up with it. Now i drive a tow truck during nights and week ends, so during the day i have time to work on the car and if i don't get called out to work during the evening, i spend time with the wife. A happy median.
