It's been bothering me for a while that my walbro doesn't whine like any other walbro I've ever heard. So let's have at it, vote in the poll on if you're walbro is silent as stock or a big cry baby whinebro. Also vote if you have a 190 or 255.

190, I'm not sure whether my mind is ignoring the sound or not but people always ask what that, I can at least say that before it was rewired it was annoying.

I could be used to it, or it may just be the other hundred things making noise in my car, but my 255 doesn't seem to whine too much. If you listen for it, I think you can hear it.

The 255's pitch and whine will change will different voltages. A 13V Walbro will be much quieter than one operating at a full 14V. The dirtier the fuel sock, the more noise the pump makes.

But the factor that changes the whine of the Walbro the most is fuel temperature. The hotter the fuel the hotter the fuel pump gets. The Walbro will whine like hell when it heats up. The less fuel you have, the faster the fuel warms up. Also a full tank will muffle the sound of the 255.

My Dual Bosch 044's are noisy as hell when they heat up. I can barely hear my exhaust over the pumps.

I voted obnoxious. I don't think it's THAT loud, but it's more than a faint whine, it is noticeable.

Obviously yours is a chinese knock-off that doesn't whine, I mean work properly :p

I might be due a fuel pump change, mine used to be able to be heard with the car idling and I can barely hear it anymore.

255 here, rewired

affirmative, my 255 whines decently. Sometimes louder than others though, depending on how much gas I have in the tank LOL

My 255 only seems to get real loud when my tank is about empty - which I try never to let it get that low.

When my stereo is on I don't even hear/notice it.

I have a 255 high pressure and I can hear it almost all the time unless my music is up decently loud. People always wonder what it is, and under WOT it screams.

Iv never heard it ones. Might be because of my 3" testpipe. Than again I can barely hear semi trucks over my car.

255 re-wired. I voted loud and obnoxious, even though my false floor and lid in the trunk keep it muffled fairly well with the back seats up. If that stuff wasn't in there you can definately hear it.

Standing at the back of my car idling you can hear the whinebro rather well. Loud enough that my buddy asked me what the noise was the other day. LOL.

Mine can be quiet or quite loud depending on the day. I'm not sure what really determines it. I know the level of fuel has an effect, and I guess the temperature might too but I haven't determined that. Whether it's loud or quiet at the time, I don't find it obnoxious, but I voted loud.

Mine isn't mounted very securely or properly so it might be leaking the o-ring, and worse some times than others. Once I fix that it might be more consistent, shrug.

My 190 is quiet as OEM. (not rewired yet)

What I am curious of is if people that are saying theres whines, if they removed there sound deadining or not? Also did they rewire it?

Man this thread is killing me. I have a rewired 255 and it is quiet as a mouse. I CAN'T hear it even with the backseats out and me sitting behind the passenger seat!! This is driving me insane, so much that the next time I'm free I'm pulling the damn pump out just to verify that I even have a walbro

Why don't you turn the ignition on and turn the fuel pump on via dsmlink and see how loud it is. That is when mine is loudest. When driving sometimes I hear it sometimes I don't.
