I was wondering if any one knows what i can do to keep the cold air from coming in my home?
First of all I feel cold air coming from the back and front doors, and I also feel it coming in through the windows:notgood:
:(The dang gas bill is going up every month due to this problem and it is still cold in here.
:beatentodeath::beatentodeath:

ok i work at home depot so i would get the plastic sheets that are mainly used for weather stripping.
They will most likely be on an end cap. Then get new thresholds for under the doors. Just ask someone in there and they will help you out.

My sisinlaw works there so it looks like i will be getting a dicount:D

They make window kits, it comes with double sided sticky tape and plastic. Those work well. Also get some efficient space heaters! My thermostat is currently set to 52 degrees, so I know exactly how you feel!

I've always heard that DSMer's are cheap.....but WOW.

Mine's at 62*, and sometimes THAT feels damn cold!

Invest in enormous amounts of hot cocoa mix. That stuff warms the soul nicely.

I heard that drinking hot water with jello mix warms you up niceley. In fact I tried it and it does work. What happens is that after you drink it the jello starts to turn into a jello like solid in your stomach, so your stomach has to work harder to break it down, which warms you up.:thumb:

Unless air is leaking around the whole door, then you need weather stripping also.

New weatherstripping, new door sweeps and a towel rolled up and pushed up to the bottom of the door will stop some drafts. As for the windows, plastic window covering works wonders against drafts also. The most important thing is to make sure the filter on the intake side of the furnace is clean.

Last night was cold man. I put a blanket over the door it helped a little to keep out the cold air. Looks like I need to take a trip to hardware store and pick up some weather stripping and some plastic for the windows.
Oh and I can not move out I am buying this house. maybe I can talk my insurance company into geting me some weather proof windows. I can not belive that the inspector over looked this problem.

Plastic sheeting on the windows, weatherstripping on the doors. As much insulation in the attic as you can have too, heat rises.

Like drinking alcohol, this only makes you feel warm but doesn't actually warm you up. You're pulling blood away from outer areas (skin) to do it's business of taking nutrients from the stomach. It can have ill effects if you're outside freezing but no biggy if you're inside.

Lots & lots of RTV silicon LOL! j/k

I got this idea from a guy who is an expert in outdoors survival. He mentioned it as one of the ways to keep warm.

shit dude, i just got done spending a week in Ft. McCoy WI in a tent, it was -20 outside at times.

The best thing you can do is dress in the least amount of clothing possible outside, get used to the temperature, and freeze you butt off, then go inside and it will feel better. At night when you sleep, wear the least amount of clothing possible and use the least blankets, you get used to the cold you will be fine, and save money on energy cost!!!

^^^^^Im glad you enjoyed your stay in wisconsin! I also agree with the plastic wrap over the windows, it works wonders. Cleaning the sand outta your Vag tends to help too....
