This weekend I will be heading to Europa Park in Germany. There is a stretch of Highway for around 50km (around 30 miles) where there is no speed limit. I plan on seeing how fast my car can take me. But I was wondering what is the 'claimed' topspeed for a 2G GSX? Just to have an idea in advance.
Keep you guys posted!!

I remember seeing a video where the needle was on 170 from inside the cockpit of a 2g. And I know I've seen one where he flys by a person at 140 something so it depends on what mods you have and what's been done to the engine. Obviously a built engine will go faster than a regular one.
Yeah, there's a thread around here somewhere with a pic of one at like 170 or 172. I guess 1g awd's are around 178 from what I've heard, either way it's at like 7300 rpm's or some shit like that. So good luck on not blowing your engine and not dying
But he has a European car (if they ever made a version of it) and most of them don't have rev limiters and speedometer cutouts. That's the nice part with cars over there.

That 2G was a GST, I think his username on here was Kingdom or something like that.
A stock 1G will not do 170, probably around 140-150mph, same with the 2G, of course, modifications change everything.

GEAR LIMITED means that you can't go any faster because you've run out of revs in the gear. Kinda like how you top out at a little over 60 in second gear? Well that's how fast you'll top out in fifth.
DSM Speedometers are not accurate at high speeds. Go do some real calculations, ok?
I seriously doubt the 2G's body is clean enough to make 150. It's not a gearing nor a rev issue, it's air resistance.
Although it's very hard to determine actual speed when you are going that fast, my speedo has said I've hit 160 before. And it still wanted to keep going. Not proud of it, but on an empty highway it didn't take long to go that fast.

235/240kmh in fith ..while watching the road...
and to that guy going to europa park, always have your lights on when travelling at higher speeds..some people just change lanes witthout looking.. when we do topspeed runs..it takes a while ..not because of acceleration issues, but because of pensioners in their mercedes blocking the fast lane/ people under estimating the speed of the car approaching at higfh speeds .. its very hard to keep up a high average speed without constantly having to slow back down to 100 or 90 mph(140/160 kmh)
I wouldn't trust any speedometer at those kinds of speed to be accurate. In the latest Evo magazine they had a Porsche GT up to 205 (based off of Racelogic GPS system) and the speedometer read 217. Just think how off a DSM speedometer will be.
Ive had my speedo pegged and was still pulling at 5500rpm in 5th.
not really sure the exact speed. I didn't think about it at the time but my friend pointed out some bulge's and separations on my tires and I'm lucky to be alive.
I don't know where you guys are getting this 170 mph, B.S. When I had my 16G and the other regular mods I was running 17psi boost at about 5,000 ft. (elevation) and I was out of gearing at 137mph. I probably could have hit 140mph, but the car was really struggling. The car was also lowered 2 inches. My new transmission has the TRE 25% taller fifth gear, so then I should be able to hit 170mph.
I personally have been past 150 on "my" speedo a few times in my 98' GSX, and I actually saw the speedo clear as day in my ole' 95' GSX just past the 170 mph mark while I was stationed in Germany.
