Question I bought my JDM from an ebay fraud? READ!!!

Hi.,
I Just received an email from the Police department of the city i bought my JDM from

Aside from Shitty correspondance and a few more miles on my engine than he said. I was ok wiht the ordeal,

should I call the detective and tell him my story?
could this be a case of mistaken facts and MY Positive information might be needed to help these people?

give me some ideas~ on what to do

here is the emal...

-
I am Detective blah blah with the Anacortes Police Department in Washington State. I am currently investigating a case of EBAY fraud. My investigation shows that you bid on products listed by artifact19 or gargage_jdm. At one point in time this business was operating within the city limits of Anacortes Washington. At this point I now have approximately 10 victims as well as other victims in other nearby jurisdictions. I am attempting to locate as many victims as possible prior to completing my case.

I am aware that the people involved have used multiple Ebay user names. People who have had contact with me say that they have had email, personal and telephone contact with the following people: Dustin (Blouin), Rob(Carratello), Jose(Gonzalez or Gutierrez(he lives with Rob), Thomas (Vlahovich), Matt (Vollans). They have done business as D Speed, JDM Wholesalers, JDM Engines, RJC Trading, TWV Trading, just to name a few.

If you sent them money and received nothing, or received something (but not what you won on ebay) I would like to hear from you. If you have had correspondence with others who have also been taken advantage of I would like to hear from them as well. I can not guarantee that I can get your money back for you, but I would like to prevent others from also becoming victims. Even though the garage_jdm user name was shut down they have continued to sell on ebay under other names.

the email could be fake. there are systems setup so that you can spam previous bidders on items to make them back out, sending false emails to users and such

more than likely if it was legit he would have called you over the phone or given you a phone number where you can reach him at work. i would call him and double check if your really worried

That's pretty lousy writing technique if it's legit. It wouldn't hurt to verify with the police dept if the email is for real. If it isn't, maybe they'd be interested in finding out who's impersonating an officer -- highly illegal.

On the other hand, it's not too far-fetched to have scammers as described.

I bought my car on Ebay...it took 6 weeks to close. I'm in Japan, the seller is in Brazil, and we had to have his sister, a friend, and my girlfriend -- all in Florida where the car is, arrange everything that had to be done. It was a huge pain in the ass. Luckily, the guy was really straight-forward and communicative. I looked up the carfax history, had the car inspected which turned up minor problems that he fixed, had my girlfriend test drive it before and after repairs, and had her take a cashiers check to his sis to give once the title was signed to me. I took all the precautions I could. You never know with online auctions.

"Forget it" is the wrong answer. Phone the cop up, spend the five bucks and tell him what was good/bad. As I recall, if this is your front clip, you were quite concerned as to whether you were going to actually recieve it or not. If you have anything the cop can use, great, and if not, that helps all sides as well.

I contacted them and he told me several of the people got engines that "DIDNT WORK RIGHT"

"UN FIXABLE" idle situations.

apparently they got the JDM clips from a japan supplier that dealt in engines that for some reason werent "good enough" and cost much less. Though the engines were compression and leak tested, sometign just wasnt right.

He said everyones agreement that there was internal problem with the cyclone itself.

shitty shitty shitty.

he said he mght be able to get compensation for me.
but ohwell. im ditching the cyclone soon n e ways

not all true. I was contacted by the police through e-mail when I let a friend sell something on ebay, and he never sent it. Not even going to get into the rest of this.

If I remember correctly, the Cyclone intake doesnt operate without the proper contollers from the factory, which would mean if the entire setup isnt swapped, it would cause some problems. MAy be even unfixable idle probs? MY Supra's JDM had a similar problem, because the JDM's didnt have EGR, and the ECU in the car went batty over not seeing it. Someone filed a suit on the company I got mine from, and I was contacted by teh PD where the seller was at. After I(being the owner of a tuner shop) informed him of the nature of the beast, he dropped the case.
