Check your LUGS ASAP!!!

I started hearing a clicking noise yesterday by my left front tire. I was thinking maybe a CV joint but theres no grease on my rims. So, I grabbed the MITSU wrench and checked my lugnuts. Sure enough, 6 out of the front 10 were loose. Damn, that could have been bad!

I had a wheel fly off on me going about... 30-40 MPH.

I keep a torque wrench in the back. You would be surprised how far short of the 100-150 ft pounds you are when you guess.

I believe you only need 72 ft/lbs.

125! wow. but when you snap off the stud, i guess you'll learn to read the manual

I always go with the 3si crowd and do a 90-100 torque

I admit I threw that 100-150 out there without double checking, but I could swear it's something close to that my the chiltons manual. Personally I always stick to the bottom end.

The point is 100 ft/lbs (or 72) is really tight. A lot tighter than than I ever did by guessing.

4 lug - 80ft lb, 5 lug - 75ft lb is plenty!!

Check torque/tightness after about 25 miles, after you put aluminum wheels on.
