i just tried to instal some tokico blues and some skuk2 coilovers. i dont know if i did it wrong but it didnt turn out as i expected. First of all, the fronts dont go that low. it seems higher than stock. and the backs are almost where i want them. i took it out for a spin and they wide was very clunky and sounded noisy like it wasnt on properly. Right now i really dont know what to do. its really frustrating. iv only had my car for two weeks this whole summer. first i had to change out my engine for a new one. and then my suspension broke so i had to replace it with back order parts. oh well. could someone please help me.. i have a 95gsx

It sounds to me as though you didn't remove the spring perches on the shocks.

THe coilover is supposed to rest on the weld of the perch not the perch itself. THis would be why the car is sitting higher than stock.

I was thinking about getting the skunk2 coilovers too but I was wondering what else I needed to do the swap.
I have questions like:

Do you have to replace the stock struts with aftermarket struts or will they fit and work correctly with OE struts?

You don't have to replace them but if you don't replace your stock shocks more than likely the ride will be horrible. I suggest buying adjustable shocks along with the coilovers...that way if the ride is too harsh you can adjust it.

cool thanks I did some looking around and I think I'm getting the kyb AGX and the skunk 2 coil overs

thanks again

I have the KYB AGX's and skunk2 coilovers on my car. I left the perches on because there was no way I way beating the perch off my new shocks. The front springs are as low as they go and is sitting around stock height. The rears are only about a inch down and is sitting stock height. Once I get some time I'm going to knock the perches off so I can have a really low ride. I love the setup and the shocks but I didn't knock the perches off so it still sits high. Also if you use the Rubber gromets and spacers for the car it will not clunk. Good luck and keep us posted.

You do not need to beat the perches off, I used a chop saw with a metal blade in it, i also used a few blocks of wood to hold one end of the shock from moving to far in one direction, then i just applied light pressure with the saw and spun the shock around till it was cut very close to the shock itself....then tap lightly with a hammer and cloth and your done.....perch comes off leaving the weld and however much metal you decided to leave on the shock....

entire process took me about 2 hrs, including cleanup and making absolute sure i was not cutting into the shock only the perch....

so now my skunk 2's fit the tokico's perfectly....and i was able to drop the car 2" all around with a little bit of adjustment left~
