Thornton,
I was at a rather large import wrecking yeard & found several 3kGT's & stealths there. (turbo & nt)

I was thinkin about getting the front & rear calipers & rotors as an upgrade for the talon. i was reading this thread because it was the only one that came up when i was searching. however it only deals with the na 3/s's.

Do the VR-4/Stealth RT's have larger calipers/rotors, & can these be transplanted onto a 1g?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Nope, not without some serious work.

The later four pot fronts and twin rears are different enough that you can't use them, the mounts are not the same.

I know this given that I can put a 1GE on a early n/a 3000GT but not the VR4 package vehicle, And the rears are not the same either, but very close...just enough to not make them work!

"no major work" I'll bet means he made his own brackets to adapt them. And was it calipers only or rotors too? (actually this has come up before too if I remember right)

Fitting these is the same as my calipers, make the proper fit changes and bolt 'em up. But make no mistake; the mounting ears of these nice TT calipers is NOT the same as the Eclipse.

Note that the face of the caliper is also milled, likely to clear the wheel. Same old problem as I have too. And those rotors aren't even as 'inboard' as mine are. Now if you have a laser or plasma cutter and don't mind cutting some bracket, then putting the calipers on your mill to surface them a bit...it's all just so easy.

No beef that it can't be done, just don't get your hopes up that it's some new thing others here for ten years haven't thought about. If it were that easy you'd see dozens of them here.....

The SLs work great, they bolt right up, but you need to use the SL rotor, it is a good cheap big brake upgrade:D

not that i dont believe you, but can someone verify this?

are the brakes on the Base & SL identical?

are the brakes on all the model years identical?

from what i know the bas and SLs are the same. The VR4 brakes are much to large, and from what i know , to wide. Try this. Find the braket that goes from the spindle, to the caliper. You find they can bolt right up. Also, you can use the Diamante brakes. Those are he same as the SL ones

Todd:
I aint dissing you or your products in any way at all.You remeber I wanted to buy a set..but cant afford since the insurance company now drew money from me due tot he brake in in the summer:-(

What I was saying was that only thing he told me he changed was the bracket...and fluidlines wich is easy to do .Maybe the Euro have another setup or he didnt tell me the truth..I aint saying he is right..If you read the post I am asking if its the TT or SL brakes he put on...right? I have the TT brakaes at home and will make a go to see if I can fit them on the car..maybe I will maybe I wont...but I willa t least try :) And yes I have access to both a laser cutter and a plasma cutter as well as an industrial miller... :)

So with all that said..I hope you dont think I am out on a flame war here...cause I am not :)

Peace/Roger

PS: It was rotors and calipers both.

Just as Todd said above..they sem to been milled on the surface..thats why the Mitsubishi is gone..IF its the T brakes that is.I have the TT brakes at home and I compatred them..but I am not sure what to think...they look awfully alike the ones I have at home and they are for sure TT brakes.

Hey, no beef given or taken on my end. I just don't want to see someone find out that things are not quite what they seem up front. I'm confident that the TT brakes CAN be fit to the car with the proper adapters, hell it's not much different than mine or any other fixed caliper. That's what those are too, just milled down on the outer face, probably for wheel clearance.

Get 'em on and maybe I can do you up some two piece hats and rotors to go with them.

i know that most big brake kits have an adapter plate/bracket to reloacate the caliper. im sure something can be fabbed up fairly easily to make the bigass TT brakes work.
