OK this will be kinda to the point: http://www.gotwheelsandtires.com/ca...id=88&osCsid=17b8c2d2bd563ce10a88a5baa897b43b

These wheels with 235/ 45 17 rubber on them, here are the specs I got from tire calculator: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html (the link)
old tire specs
sidewall 4.4 in
radius 12.4 in
diameter 24.9in
circumference 78.2
rev/mile 811

New tire specs
sidewall 4.2 in
radius 12.7 in
diameter 25.3in
circumference 79.6
rev/mile 796

So as you can see the not too much difference in size, I was wondering would these tires fit on these wheels? If not can anyone point me in the direction of 17*8 wheels that arent bling bling. The only reason Im asking is because tire rack says 7.5-9 in wide rims should be used and I asked my teacher(long time chrysler tech/engineer) and he said they should. Im just getting a second opinion because this is exspensive and Im on a college student salary, along with the fact that I cant find the offset for these wheels. Thank you

Fit? Yeah, I'm sure that someone could wedge 235/45s onto a 17x7 if they were paid enough and you agreed not to come back and complain.

But you don't want to do this. I wouldn't even put 235/45s on a 17x7.5.

My suggestion: get something like 17x8 ASA IS6 wheels (+42mm offset) from Tire Rack. (See my profile for a pic.) Yeah, they weigh 20+#, but they were cheap and they are strong.

yes they should fit with a 42 off set...also..check out wheelmax.com.... And i didnt know a 1g Ic was and upgrade for our cars..

The rule of thumb that I heard was that the wheel should be at least 70% the width of the tire.

7 inches = 178mm
178 = 75.7% of 235

Yeah they should fit but would not give you optimum handling. 8 or 8.5 inch would be better.

Yes 1g Ic flows a lot better then our stock ones and it noticably bigger in size. Oh yeah I figured out 8 inch wheels with 235 rubber would fit similar to my old civic with 16*7 with 205 tires....and they fit nice so thats what Ill get. Thanks for the help.
