Bellingham,
I just purchased some Sprint lowering springs off of ebay and I was just wondering if anyone has heard of these or has any personal expierence with them? Also........does anyone know how hard it is to install these on my 90 Eclipse FWD 1.8 ltr (if I am moderately mecanically inclined) I was told that I need to buy or rent a spring compressor to take off the old ones and that the new ones will just go on without being compressed.......any input would be really appreciated.

Some people like to live on the edge and actually disassemble the stock set-up without a spring compressor. Some of these people are now known as "one-eye" or "no-nose," so I'd borrow a set from Autozone or buy a set from Sears.

Some aftermarket springs are shorter and stiffer, so they don't need a compressor to put them on, once the old ones are off. It would not surprise me if Sprints for 1Gs fell into this category. On the flip side, if you don't need a compressor to get them on, then they might benefit from having helper springs.

i use sprints, and no problems for the year and a half ive been using them. 2" drop. on stock shocks. But I have AGX's ready to be bolted on when i get home from college:thumb:

Thanks for the input anybody else have any input I should be getting my springs within a week and a half I am waiting for them to be shipped.

Thanks Again,

I've had a few sets of sprints on my various DSM's and have been very happy w/ them. IMO you can't beat them for the $$.

As far as a spring compressor goes you can actually unload the spring itself while still in the car then slowly jack the car up w/o any problems. Just an easy solutyion w/o needing a compressor.

Really.............so when I jack the car up they will be able to just pop off once I undo the bolts holding the spring and shock in?

Thanks,

Anybody?

The springs just don't pop off when you remove them from the car. Undo the three bolts up top and remove the lower bolt holding the strut in place. This removes the srpings and strut assmbly. Then your going to have to either put spring compressors on or put some of your body weight to undo the bolts on the assembly and remove the spring.

do yourself a favor, go to AutoZone get the compressor... and have a nice day. Dont f*ck around with something like that... Im a tech for Mitsu, and those things can get dangerous... Get the compressor, and keep ur eyes, and faces SAFE.

Good Advice, Thanks Yeah thats what I did (removed the spring and strut assembly and then put the spring compressor on to remove the spring) on the other springs my roommate did them and he took them out and then aimed the nut that holds it together away from him and released it that way until it flew off (Not Reccomended ) hes nuts. Anyways yeah if I were to do it again I could do it by myself very easily and I would use the spring compressor (I was on the other side of the garage while he was removing it without using the spring compressor).

Thanks Again,

well i just install my sprints springs and you dont even need a spring compressor to take the springs off of the strut.. my shit looking clean now..compare to stock hight the drop is a 2.0 inch drop.

im planning on getting some sprint springs also for my 95' talon awd. but i wanted to know if there would be any problem since the springs are made to fit all models. from what i read awd has a diferent spring rate then fwd so will there be any defect.

From what I understand, Autozone loans out the compressors for free as long as you have proper ID and stuff. Please use one. Those springs are made to hold up 3000lb car, imagine what could happen to your body if something went wrong and that spring's force was released onto some part of you.

As far as the Sprints, i've had them on my car for a couple years now and have had no complaints at all. In fact, I think they're great for the street as far as ride quality. They may be a little soft for some people for racing though.

Sprint is ok for the money i suppose, i had them on my old car a 95 talon, if u want them for looks i guess they are cool, but the car will run hard and looks funny when you ride down the road because it bounces because they are so stiff, the stock shocks were on the car though, i would not lower my car unless i was going to do it right

I have the Sprints on my car. They are pretty stiff and I do not recommend them if you live in a hillbilly pothole infested area. Don't even try using stock shocks with them if your car will be a daily driver on an AWD. :thumb:

I will tell you one thing though. The car launches really well on them.
