Tie End Rods....

Does anyone have any clue how hard it is to replace tie end rods on a 2g eclipse...is it something that the i should just cough up money n let the dealership deal with or could it be a do it urself project?

Do you mean the rod end on a steering arm or some other tie rod?

yea its in the front suspension alls i kno is if it breaks ill lose my steering my wheel will go whatever way it wants....thats all i kno and that i gotta get it fixed i dunno much about suspension

Well, the only rod end that I know of on the front end of a 2G is the rod end on the steering arm. Pulling a ball joint can a pain (and darned near impossible without the right tool or you end up splitting the boot), but it's relatively simple. And I'm not even sure that the ball joint on the steering knuckle has to come off to swap the rod end. If you know someone to borrow the tools from, I'd do it yourself.

The recall on 2Gs for a defect that can cause "total loss of steering" is actually the ball joint on the lower lateral control arm. It's not this that you are talking about, is it?

na this is something differnet its in the same area but its called a end tie rod or a tie rod end somehting like that i think im just gonna get it replaced by the dealers for 300 including labor

$300 is alota loot for a $50 dollar part. its not that hard to do.
