I want to setup my 1G AWD for Track Days and Time Trials... What suspension setup should I get?

I already purchased the 1G AWD ACTIVE TOE CONTROL LINK ELIMINATOR from Taboo Speed Shop.

What else should I get for my setup... best bang for the Buck...

Upper front and rear strut bars, rear lower sway bar (front one is fine), a good set of shocks (I.E. Koni Yellow's), a good set of lowering springs (I.E. Eibach prokit), Camber kit, Energy Suspension full bushing kit, roll cage, lighter rims, wider tires, some weight reduction..... Just a few ideas.

are you racing ina drag strip?, becuase if ur just going in a strait line you wont need most of that stuff.

I will once in a while... but I will eb racing mostly on a road coarse track.

I know the best setup would be a custom Coil Over kit... but I wonder how much I would benefit from dropping close to $2k on a suspension. I already have teh bushing kit and the Control Link Eliminator...

So are Koni's better than getting Adjustable AGX's?

So the prokit is the way to go? And its a metter of what Shocks I get a better deal on? Or should I go with one or the other?

Will this setup yield similar results to going with a JIC or Tein setup... or will the difference be very marked?

You will not get as good of results as you would with JIC or Tein. The fact that the spring and shock are rated for eachother, balanced, fully adjustable, and overall complete quality just wont be matched by a mix-n-match setup. However, dont let that fool you that you wont be able to handle on rails with, for instance, a Koni Yellow/Eibach Pro-kit set up. It just depends, do you want good enough for a good price, or as good as it gets for alot more?

I was also going to ask about freshening up my Talon's suspension.

What all would i need?

New shock,
New lowering springs.

and, would i NEED a camber kit?

The rear camber will offset very easily when lowering. Be prepared to look for one in the future when you lower. Springs and shocks are the basics. Almost everything else I listed in my first post.

A JIC or Tein setup will probably run 1.5K? or would it be more than that?

Im sorry... when I said setup I meant shocks and springs... as the sway bars andthe other stuff I would need to buy regardless if I went the Coilover route or the spring route.

I got my Koni Yellows and Eibach Pros for $800. That was about a year ago, the price should have dropped a little by now. Just ask DIESELCLOWN how they ride. He's been in my car when I got stupid with it from time to time. This was before I got T-Boned.

Be careful PLAQUE :p Dont lie Roddy, with your cut stock springs and severely blown struts......oh yeah, rode like a dream ;)

No seriously, they rode pretty good. Expensive setup, and I am sure you can get a simular ride for cheaper, but two very high quality products IMO.

Diesel...

You have any testimonials or reading material on setups with similar results that were cheaper?

Well I do not care if I have a rough ride or the car is harsh around bumps... as the car will not be a Daily Driver and will be driven mostly on the track. I know a custom Coil over setup would be best... but I always lik eto go for bang for your buck... is that Coil Over setup going to help me reduce 5 seconds off my times when compared to a spring/shock setup... probably not... so that is what I am trying to get feedback on... what would the best bang for my buck performance wise regardless of ride quality. The main driver there for me is a setup that would make the car handle its best under hard braking conditions and aggressive cornering.

Like I suggested in another post, a mix-n'-match setup wont handle as well as a full complete coilover setup. If your going all for for AutoX, I would highly suggest not wasting your time and going with a quality full coilover setup.

Stay tuned to RoadRaceEngineering out in CA.
They have a prototype upper arm that's been track tested
very successfully, and some on the road now, too..
May take a couple of months to get in production.

I talked to John at RRE about the shortened Konis front/AGX back + coilover sleeves + camber plates, and he told me that'd be about 90% as good as the JICs. In the end I still got the JICs and let John set them up ... personally I think they're worth every penny :)
