Is anyone using 9inch wide rims(offset)?

Who on here is running wide rims on their cars, and if so what offset are you using? I wanna know if they will tuck with the right offset? Post some pics so i can get an idea on offset sizes even if you're running 8-8.5 inches wide. Thanks

A: I don't think you can use 9" wheels. The offset required would be somewhere around +25 to +30mm, well outside recommended.

B: Why would you want to? You can run up to 245s on 8.5 inch wheels. Much more than that and they'll be sticking way out.

Please tell me that the car that RRE put 18" wheels on had some sort of mondo brakes that made this necessary. If you don't, I'll be very, very, very disappointed in those guys.

Of course, it is a business.

Considering they put on Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's on the car, which are probably the most over-rated tire ever, and Konig rims, it's most likely for "looks".

I don't recall anybody asking for your guys' opinions. Can we stick to the facts/tech and stop posting the pseudo-witty comments, please? It's getting really old. Whats worse is you two seem very knowledgable in your own rights, yet you continue to waste bandwidth with useless comments in good threads.

To the mods, I'm aware this is violating the rules, take whatever action you need to, but it had to be done, it's getting out of hand when people are trying to find useful info only to find a thread littered with comments that aren't needed.

Dude, chill.

If a few of us make a couple of posts on a slightly different level from where the thread was, it's no big deal. We weren't doing anything rude, like making fun of anyone on the list for putting 18" wheels on a car with stock brakes; we were just exchanging a few comments that should be taken as flattering (in general) to the guys at Road///Race.

And if you didn't notice, there was some useful content for the lurkers. I suggested that the only excuse for huge wheels is having huge brakes and Cait_Sith reminded everyone that 712s are crap.

If you makes you feel better, here's a suggestion for the guy who started the thread. We've said this about twenty times already, but repetition sometimes seems useful.

The best street set-up for a DSM is 245/40/17 on 17x8 +40mm wheels. My preferences is for Kumho MX tires. If you are positive that you'll never put on brakes any larger than those on a 2G AWD, then 245/45/16 is just about the same thing, but with less rotational inertia.
