Wondering if 225/45 would be OK on a 17x8 rim with 38mm offset.

Any 1G owners running this wheel size and offest? What size tires are you running?

well I am a 2g owner and I have 17x8 rims w/ 38mm offset and run 245/45/17s and 245/40/17s would actually be better. I also know Mike at DSS has 17x8 w/38mm offset on 1g's and has one car with 225s and one car with 245s. If that helps at all.

Yes it does help. Thanks.

The reason I put emphasis on 1G is because in searching for the answer, I've come across countless posts from 2G owners offering information to 1G owners that don't really apply to the 1Gs. It's cool that they're willing to help and all... but the information can be misleading at times as there are differences between the two generations.

The wider 245 would certainly be nice but I am not sure if the smaller 1G wheel well is big enough to accomodate it without rubbing... the good thing is that there isn't a fender lip to roll, unlike the 2Gs.

I might just try 235s if the tire I have in mind comes in that size...

I'm calling Mike @ DSS right now to ask him...if you want to his number is 805-541-4483...god damn...its busy.

Ok...yep 245s work fine with a 17x8 and 38/40mm offset on 1gs...so with 225s. Just for some more info...I have had 255s on the back on my car...it is a 2g...but I have done it.

And I know 2gs/1gs are pretty different when it comes to suspension and wheel sizes and stuff...I'm glad I knew enough about 1gs to answer your question. If you feel safer going for 235s...thats fine...your AWD right...so you don't really NEED 245s
