Besides a straight up slick, what would be the best street tire to get for a GST. For launching and handling. Ive seen most of the yokohama, and bridgesotnes...from experience what do you guys suggest i do?

Drag radials are street legal....

Nitto 555r is a good choice for a drag radial.

Yokohama AVS ES100s are great street tires, not the best in the snow, but great in rain and for dry traction. They are very cheap too, $80 per tire. I have a friend who cut 2.0x 60fts on his FRONT WHEEL DRIVE eclipse with just 2" lowering springs and kyb agx struts. He had kumho ecsta supra 712s on his car before that and cut 2.1xs. He is a good driver though.

I run Falken Azeni's on my GSX and I love their grip when turning.

If your GST is for all out drag racing, I would suggest something with more sidewall flex. But if you actually like to turn, I would say go with the Azeni's.

I just bought some Kuhmo MX's. So far so good....they seem to handle well in wet conditions also which is a plus in my book as my car is a daily driver. The tire look's alot like the Falken Azenis imo. Go to tirerack and read the writeup on the various tires listed and see what you think meets your needs best.

I had an integra a while ago, and I went through Nitto 450NTs, Yokohama AVS ES100s, and Falken Azenis. The Falkens were by far the best tire, both for handling and drag. However, they are not really drag tires I think they just worked because my integra had no power. With a GST you are going to have a harder time keeping traction. I think you should decide which type of racing you want to do. If you want to handle well, I would go with the azenis. However, if you want drag racing, something with a softer sidewall would probably be a better choice.

This is an Engine Performance question?

You should do a search in the suspension section. They had a thread just like this many times before. You might also get more opinions.

I've heard that the Nitto Neo gens are good too....I have Perelli Pzero Neros- I like them.:thumb:

Having worked in a tire shop and run a few different tire setups, here are my thoughts:

Sumitomo HTRZIIs very stricky, dry weather only.
Yokohamas AVS ES100 awesome tire all around, good autoX tire for a few laps. ( had it on a Miata )
Bridgestone Pole Position Potenza S-03 best summer tire. Period.
BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW ( new tread design ) good all around with nice looks.

These are tires that I have had good experiences with, but have not tried them in the snow. Enjoy. :D

I am also currently looking for a good tire, for my G/F's car. it's a 98 gst spyder 5-speed. w/ the few mods it has it strugles for traction. I want the best straight line traction possible but street legal, handling corners does not matter at all. it will be raced at the drag strip every weekend.

I have these on my Camaro SS and they work quite well, but what size Nitto drag radial will fit a stock 16" wheel on a 98 gst? 245/50/16 is the only close size i have seen. but I feel 245 is a bit too wide to stuff under the fender of a FWD car. Even a BFG drag smallest 16" comes in 255.
Anyone who knows of a drag radial that will fit a stock gst 16" wheel. please help me out.

Or if u can find them the Potenza S-02

My Neo Gens are working awesome. I have little to no wheel spin in 2nd gear. It might be because of my clutch, but they are alot better tire then I have ever run before.

I was thinking of getting some tires for my stock GS wheels, maybe 225mm. Would that fit fine our would there be some rubbing?

I have 225/45/17 on a 17x7 rim. That is going the distance for that parrticular width. You might be able to get that on the rim but I would pick up a cheap set of rims.

Hell, I got mine for $275 (rims) and $400 (tires) not bad, huh!:D

Go on ebay and find a nice set of rims you loke and get them cheap as hell:)

Ok I just got a brochure while getting my flat tire fixed, it's for Bridgetstone Potenza RE910s. I looked at the available sizes and the biggest that will fit 16x6 wheels is 225/50/16, I'm gonna try to see if they have any lower profile tires then that.

You prob. do not want to go any lower in profile then 50 for a 16" rim. It will throw your speedo off. Check out this website to show you more about tire sizes.

Also, I do not think the stock 16" will hold a 225 tire. I have 17x7 and the 225 just popped on there.

Hope I helped.
