Tokiko's blow.

word, but make those neuspeed koni's for bigger and stiffer drops.
anyone who claims tokicos are better than koni's dont know what they are talking about.

Seeing as you have the same car as I do, I can tell you that the Illuminas work really well with the stock springs (I've got plenty of auto-x trophies to back that up). However, if you're going with GC's, I'd recommend Konis first, then KYB/GAB, and lastly the Tockicos.

What spring rates did you get on the GC's?

I'd also recommend a stiffer rear sway bar or the RM Racing sway bar set (~$300).

Good luck,
George G.

DG (As in the guy who's from www.farnorthracing.com ) exclusively reccomends Koni's for the street.

Do you think you know more about shocks than he does?

Im running with Koni's, pay the money and you will not be disappointed. Rides like its on rails. Maybe 2G's ride different from 1G's with Koni's. Either way, good luck.:thumb:

I do consider RRE to be one of the leading authorities on DSMs - to quote them ..
"We don't recommend the AGXs for the 2G Eclipse, the 2G front shock body length is too long for car that are lowered at all."

"Tokico Illumina 5 Way Adjustable Shocks
These are our favorite for the 2G Eclipses. They are less harsh than the GABs or AGXs and more adjustable than the Konis
"

Road Race is not a distributer of Koni shocks. Do you honestly think they'd try to have you buy from somewhere else?

Koni front struts shortened 1 inch for more travel with lowered cars and pre-installed into housings. KYB AGX externally adjustable rear shocks. You will need to return your old front struts to us. This is our preferred street performance set-up for very low first generation cars.

$ 595 Set of 4 '89-'94 only

there not eh?

since when is 5 more than infinite?
ive never seen people say tokicos are better than koni yellows.. ever.

autox trophies dont prove anything.

unless you dont care about winning or want a good ride, the suspension is not a place to skimp. you get what you pay for.

Any of you arguing that Tokikos are better than Konis... please say why. And please be clear about the spring rates for which you think Tokikos are better.

autocross is nearly all driver and implying your tophies are because you had tokicos instead of some other performance shock just shows your ignorance. ive got plenty of trohpies on a stock suspenion, does that mean its the best setup? and who the hell knows what kind of competition you were against. beating the best and beating the worst are totally different accomplishments. me? only guy who beat me took 1st in our division. guy behind me took third in a bone stock rabit, and all in a very large and very compedative sts class.

koni's are a FAR better shocks in terms of quality, reliability, dampening ability, ride quality and warranty. tokicos are gas shocks, which tend to not perform as well and last as long as hydraulic shocks (koni). perhaps you guys should try both shocks under the same conditions before you make the conclusion that one is better than the other. koni shocks have an infinite amount of adjustment points, as opposed to tokicos with 5. i also enjoy having a lifetime warranty.

koni shocks have a HUGE history of winning and are track proven. my buddy races in the speed world challange and races on koni's. his car is pictured in the latest honda tuner and is the third car back in the opening picture in their article. ive driven on gas shocks before and they are totally different than what i have now. they dont dampen nearly as well, i blew one out hitting a mild hole that i hit all the time with my koni's and the overall feel of controll is lacking.

since tokicos dont dampen quite as well, the optimal spring rates for em are gonna be lower and in turn, worse handling on the track.

koni's are the far superior shock.

welp- you and your buddy can stick with your konis
me and RRE will stick with tokicos :) -- this is a pretty pointless argument. Either will be far better than stock. ive DRIVEN on tokicos and i like em'.... i havent driven on konis. so i cant say from experiance. cOIL, have you PERSONALY driven on tokicos? ( not somthing like them.. im talking the real deal )

Illumina's are weak sauce compared to Koni Yellows. Those who have had both won't even compare them.

so i assoume youve had both eh?

Actually all 3: agx, illumina, and yellow.

And I wouldn't run the GR-2 with GC's...unless(for some weird reason) you get a stock spring-rate with the GC's.

edit: For the thread starter, GC's are made specific to certain shocks, so you should find out which shock your GC's go with before you buy. GC's that fit the Koni's will not work with Tokico's or AGX's.
