tire opinions...

well, i just bought a 1g awd talon! i plan on doing the suspension very soon, but i want to start with a set of nice tires. my dakota r/t handled badass, but there was slim-none selection of tires. its actually one of the main reasons i got rid of it, driving on the highway in the rain was no fun, front end would hyrdoplane every couple of seconds using performance tires in a adequate size. anyways enough rambling.

i basically need a great tire all the way around that wont comprimise rain stability. will a 225/50 fit on the stock rims? my choices are either

kuhmo 712's - the tread pattern kinda scares me, it looks almost exactly like the nitto 450's i had on my truck, almost undrivable in the rain!

Yokohama AVS ES100- looks like a great performance tire, havent heard anything about it.

Dunlop SP Sport FM901 - looks great too, a lil more cotsly then the others, but thats no problem.

is there another tire anyone would reccomend? im trying to keep the cost around 80 bucks a piece, but will trade money for performance!

I just went to Dunlop Sport A2's yesterday, after using up my Yoko AVS in 15,000 miles.

With AWD, your rain issues are pretty much gone. The AVS (originals) are notoriously loose in the rain, but on the Talon they did just fine.

For what it's worth so far I really like my kumho ecsta supra 712s in the rain. I use an 255/35/18 tire. I've only experienced two severe downpours with them (with minor rain quite a few times) but they handled the deep puddles much more easily than my old Dunlop SP8000s (those were 245/35/18 tires). Just another data point for ya

thanks guys, ive yet to decide which tires, but i decided im gonna get 17's soon, so no point in buying tires just yet.
