ok, here is my problem. i have a 98 GS-T with blitz kit and eibach sportlines with KYB GR-2 Shocks. my car is like a half inch off the ground. i dont mind scraping, my body kit is urethane so it takes it pretty good, and only the bottom gets scraped up. my problem is I CAN'T FIND ANYONE TO WORK ON MY CAR!!! i took it to literally 12 places b4 i found someone who could do my brakes. it sucked because i was in florida(i'm from ohio), and it needed done bad. i wasted a whole day of my vacation because of it. you can't even get a jack under the car unless you drive it up on wood blocks first. anyone have anything they have found to drive up on without just setting blocks down on the ground and driving on them? my biggest worry is that the car will break down and i wont have anyway if getting it fixed, or like yesterday my buddy chris with a 98 GS-T with same body kit blew his clutch up at the track. we got his car to my house but then had to have it towed. all the guy knew was that he had to tow a 98 eclipse. he brought a flatbed, he came up to us and was like "there is no way i can tow that thing!" he was looking at my car not chris's. chris hasn't lowered his and probably wont now. he didnt have a problem getting chris's car on the towtruck. i love the looks of it lowered. it makes it look 100x better. what do you guys even do when you need your car towed!? i'm just debating on putting an air ride kit on it, but that will take away from my turbo upgrade money. any suggestions would be great! thanks!

here are a few pic's of mine and chris's GS-T's...

(dont worry, chris has gotten an exhaust since this pic)

i know i'm not the only one with a lowered 2G! Maybe i'll post this on DSMTalk because at least i usually get a few replies.....

What reply would you like?? This post seems more like a vent then anything else. You are lowered w/ a body kit, did you really expect to be able to get a jack under it?? Thats what happens when you do that kind of stuff.

Suggestions:

Take the front bumper off if you wanna get a jack under it
Get adjustables so you dont scrap

Im not trying to be negative cause you car looks good, but honestly thats all the reply i can muster. And wood is your friend for everything including towing :thumb:

I'm not sure what to tell ya... you just have to find a place that is willing to work with you. Mine is really low too and I tried all kinds of places to get an alignment and ended up going to the Mitsu dealer and they did it for me.

Where did you get an alignment after you lowered it? They could probably work on it.

Make some wooden ramps for it that you can take with to the place you want to work on it.

Is it just me or does the first picture make you look like you need a camber kit ASAP. The back wheels look totally skewed.

You want opinions?

Camber kit=good.
Lose the bodykit.
Get decent shocks.
Air ride sucks.

There is your response.

Damn dude what are you complaining about. You did it to yourself. What do you want a shop to do?? Your car is too low to get onto a lift. Take it off b/c blitz kits are too played out and i just expect Paul Walker to get his dumbass out of the car everytime i see one. I'm not bashing you, its your own opinion but i like the stock lowered look way better.:thumb:

well i definitley like the way the car looks, although i DEFINITLEY wish i would have went with a different body kit. i've debated selling this car and getting like a 99 GSX this winter so i can start over now that i know a little bit about what i'm doing. i did a lot of stuff wrong and am regretting it now. my dad said he would help me make some kind of ramp or something so that i can atleast jack it up, that will be cool for now. thanks for some replies!!!!!!!!!!!! although some were mean. :) i definitley love this site.

Don't listen to these people. Your car is fine. Are they gonna tell the guy who paid $200k for his Ferrari that he needs to trim the body or raise the car?

Try some Rhino Ramps from Kragen. They're longer than usual. You may need some wooden "cheater" ramps to get started up on them, but then you should be set. Best part is that they go on sale for $20.

I would just get some grond control coilovers, that way you can slam it at shows or whenver you want, and then when you need to go get it worked on, rasie it up before you go. That should also help you in the winter if it snows alot where you live.

My uncle has a 360 Modena they aren't no where near as low as his car. That thing is crazy low with sportlines and a blitz kit.

Umm, the point was he wanted the kit and it slammed like that. He wanted opinions as to how to work on his car. What responses did you expect?? And the guy who has the money for a ferrari, has the money to have the bumper taken off to get to it if its that low. If its fine, you go work on it

The funniest thing about these complaints... about how you can't get lowered cars on lifts without damaging the body kit... is how insanely simple the solution is. WOODEN PLANKS. Just drive up on the plans to raise the car. If you can't find a shop to accomodate you, make some yourself and bring them to the shop.

how bout ;.. do your own work ? heck with a lift.. ya can still jack the car up starting from the rear and working your way around i dont care how low it is.. it will work w/o removing anything :p

that is how they did my brakes. raised the back with a jack, put it on a stand, then did the drivers side, then passenger side, and it was finnaly all in the air. i need to make some kind of wood ramps so that when i'm at the track i can drive up a little bit so i can get the jack under in the front, then put my other wheels on. thanks everybody for all the help.

If your looking for show, no go, air cylinders are pretty nice. I have them on my car, and after a lot of modifications, they kick ass. The only problems with cylinders are if you have too much air they ride really rough, and if you want a fast system (1/2 or so) its almost impossible to get the ride right in the middle for highway cruising.(cylinders dont expand like bags, so your car just hops off da ground most of the time) What I did with mine is put in inline turn regulators with 1/8" lines split into the 3/4's, when i wanted a fine adjustment. Otherwise, i have a remote that works up to 100ft away. The car rides smooth as can be. Also, if you want a 3 wheel set up, for an extra 20 dollars you can get manual close valves and close your vent valves, and pump air into the bottem end. I dont care if you car looks good or not, I gaurantee i get more ####y drivin down da strip on 3 wheels than if you car "rides nice" so thats something to think about too, if you know what I mean. If you guys have any questions email me. I have this system many times. If u want to see some pics let me know.

alright heres my 2 cents about towing a car with a blitz kit....

when i had mine i had the 2 sides held in place with zip ties. the 5 bolts next to the hood latch and clipping some zip ties and its off. can get it up on the jack no problem....

however the back end might scrape so your best bet is the tein coilovers on sale over at slow boy racing..

btw i love the blitz on the red

this may not help for getting on a lift, but for jacking your car up at home they make these air-jacks that look kinda like an airbag that collapse pretty tiny, then you air it up to lift your vehicle. and as far as air ride suspension people say it rides like sh*t, because they dont set it up right. i've been bagged (my s10) for over 3 years now. it rode like sh*t for the first 2 years cause i cut corners. now that i've put a WHOLE lot of work (and $$) into it. it rides better then stock. i wont go into specifics since i doubt you guys care. but i am not exagerating when i say that.... now cylinders there are a lot of skeptics about because they dont expand the way a bag does. however i've been in a prelude on cylinders and it rides far better than its old slammed static drop. and even if you hate the idea of cylinders. "airlift" makes a strut bag now for the cars that normally couldnt run bags due to the strut/spindle steering issues. and im not talking about the ghetto strutbags you see in shAIM ads, im talking about the real deal companies. only downside is you cant do a standing 3 wheel the way you can with cyl's so anyway. with a car that is clearly show oriented like yours, i too am gonna suggest air-ride

This car is much lower than his.

Notice how it is on jacks without the bumper removed or any other time-consuming tricks.

Notice the jack on the left hand side. Like they really have time to take off the bumper to lift the car.

Yeah cause i forgot his blitz kit eclipse is running in la mans tomorrow. Better make sure you are the crew chief

Lets make a little better point then a race car. Find me a street car w/ a pit crew.

I'm guessing all-star's point was that you should hire a racing team to furnish you with low-profile jacks whenever you need service? Or maybe it was that you should be going ot a ferrari dealership for service? What a 'tard.

Id hate to tell you "G", but your car looks like a '64 Impala with switches. Air ride is the biggest waste of money ever unless your a straight show car or you think your car is a "G" ride. And I wouldnt trust putting my head under my cars tire and relying on air suspension to keep it up. Besides, one of the homiez' might accidently hit da swizzitch and end up squishing your poor lil' head :(

"TSiAWD666".... What is this, Day of the DSM Devil Worshippers?
