tire pressure for track?

hey do you guys lower your tire pressure for the track? just a simple quesiton, and hopefully a simple answer. take it easy.

It's probably better to raise your tire pressure at the track. What you want to do is get some chalk and make a few marks (3 or 4 should do) that start about an inch down on the sidewall and extend them all the way across the contact patch of the tire. Then take a lap or two around the track. The chalk on the contact patch should be completely gone and the chalk on the sidewall should still be there, that means you are using all of you tires, but they are not bending. If the chalk is only missing from the middle of the tire, then your pressure is too high, when the chalk is missing from the sidewall the pressure is too low. The actual amount of air in your tires depends on your tires, their sidewall ridgity, temp, track type, track conditions etc., You probably will want the front tires running about 5-10lbs more than the back, a little less of a difference if you are running all-wheel drive.
