Alright i was drivin to santa cruz the other day on highway 17 (for those in california) and my brakes would not work until it was all the way to the floor, seriously it felt like a clutch pedal, no resistance until the floor, this has also happened to me once or twice before when i was goin i think 80 or higher only. after tappin it rigoriously, it tightened up like way stiffer than normal. o yea this shoudnt be a problem cuz' I have new brakes and brake pads (OEM) that i put in a few months ago. i think it is either because of the heat??? or sumthin to do with brake fluid, or maybe even the fluid overheating? any info on this problem will help

:dsm:

actually come to think of it, i havent. ill check it out tomrow tho. also any other possible situations?

ya sounds like the brakes werent blead properly or you just don't have enough fluid.
unless you where doing constant accelerating and braking, heat shoudn't be a huge issue....but did you have extra weightin the car?

sounds like they weren't blead the right way...if you don't know how...either don't do it and take it to somebody else...or ask others how...I could tell you but I'm to tired right now...ask me tomorrow...late

:)

no its not...but when you do it you need to have a qt. of brake fluid to replace after you drain out the fluid you blead

Bleading Brakes, 2 people job:

1. Start with passenger rear get person in car to pump brakes until pedal pressure is stiff.

2. Loosen bleeder bolt and watch fluid come out...person in car should have pedal go to floor.

3. Tighten bleader bolt

4. Have person in car lift foot off brake

5. Make sure you have enough fluid in reservior (you should only have to fill this every 3 times after bleading...if person in car keeps pushing but the pedal doesn't get stiff then you need to add fluid.)

6. Repeat steps 2-5 atleast 4-5 times on that brake...if air continues to come out the valve keep doing steps until it doesn't.

You have to do the brakes in this order - 1-Passenger Rear, 2-Driver Rear, 3-Passenger Front, 4-Driver Front

Again they MUST BE DONE IN ORDER.

Have fun man...it really doesn't take long but it is confusing the first time you do it...remember have a full qt. or one of the big things of brake fluid cause you will use a lot and also have something to drain the fluid into or else it will get all over the place

I wan't aware that there was a specific order in which to bleed the brakes, when bleeding mine last I didn't follow any order but I havn't had any trouble either. Whats the purpose of bleeding in that order?

My money is on air in the system.

And btw, tell us where you live and what color you car is.... :p

It doesnt have to be in that order but it does make the process go quicker. Generally, you want to start at the corner farthest from the master cylinder and work your way closer, hence pass rr, dr rr, pass ft, dr ft. You can work in reverse order but it will take longer and then you might have to go back and rebleed some of the same again.
