for a few months now, my car shakes like a mother####er if i get it up above 75-80 mph. Went to get alignment done, and the shop said no alignment was needed, but there was definetly something in my driveline causing vibration. Any ideas what is causing my shitty ride? I have 2 theories...1. sometimes i do high rpm 1-2 shifts and make my tires chirp second, or 2. that i use my handbrake to slide around corners occasionally. i hate not being able to go 80 without being scared my car is going to fall into pieces. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Eric

if your stearing wheel shakes resurface ur brake rotors i ehard thats the problem mine did that and i did that and its fixed

well it is only the brake rotors if it shakes while using the brakes.

For you since it does it when you start going faster it means your tires are not balanced properly...since they are already mounted on the rims a tire shop should be able to balance them for you for about 10-20 bucks a tire and you should be doing good. Also you might not even know what a bushing looks like, its a rubber thing in between the metal pieces of your suspension, so have the shop that balances your tires check the bushings as well. after doing that the car should be really smooth...also when the tire place puts the wheels back on the car...make sure they torque ALL the wheels and lug nuts down to the same amount and 80 ft. lbs. is a good amount to torque them to.

Sound good...aight now go...right now while they are still open...it'll only take them about 30min..nm your in PA already 5 go tomorrow morning

I just rotated my tires, got a few bald spots on the rear ones so i think thats the culprit...but if its still going on ill just suffer until i get rid of these ugly 14s and get some gsx wheels/tires and have them balanced

Definitely tire balance. There is also a slight possibility of something else being unbalanced (tranny, etc) but since you said you have bald spots that's definitely the culprit.

You may after all these things, have a bent rim....my friend had this happen on his 3000gt and the only way he didn't feel it on the highway or daily driving was to keep it on the back , then again, it did make alot of people behind him think his wheel was going to fall off :)

If all else fails check motor mounts. This is unlikely but well... warped rotor is my idea. Your drivin in the rain and you do the e-brake slide and you heat the hell out of wet rotors.... $.02

i figured this out 8 months ago. Anyway i really didnt care what happened to those tires since they were on my stock 14s, and now that i have new rims and tires i dont do that to my car anymore. Thanks for the insight though.

could be a bent rim as well.

Why are you people still throwing out ideas? HE SKIDS THE CAR AROUND AND BEATS THE $H!T OUT OF HIS TIRES. You can balance a square but it won't roll smooth down the road.

It's his car he beats on, ain't mine. Why should anyone care? *shrug*
