I plan on getting some 225/45/17s for year-round driving. How are these in wet and in snow? I obviously don't plan on racing in these conditions, but I don't want to be forced to drive around like a little granny either. Will they be at least as sticky as stock in these conditions?

Can I get a better High-performance tire for less than $100 a piece in these conditions?

Those tires are great in rain, however they won't work in snow. I don't know of any high performance tire that will work in the snow. Your best bet would be to go through www.tirerack.com and get and winter tire and wheel package. You could probably get a set of rims with winter tires for around $600. Thats the way I would do it. No worries for me though here in Florida.

I did alright in the snow with them. If you saw what we drove through to get to south carolina this year, you should be alright.

I like the "great in rain" comment.

Now, does anybody know where to get these cheaper than 86 + s/h a piece? I'm trying to find some nice white rims too, if anybody has some links that would be great, thanks for the help so far.

What about if I could get Kumho Ecsta 711 (not the ecsta supras, the H rated ones) in 225/45/17 for cheap?

Which would I rather have:

KUMHO 712 205 40 ZR 17

or the 711s in 215/45/17 or 225/45/17?

Oh i'm sorry you took it that way. I meant that I was pleased that they handle well in the rain.

I had yoko Avid series V rated in the snow before... They are good.

Get some hakapalita (sp?) or other snow tires.. I drove someones AWD 1g with those on it once. He also had studed ice racing tires god that was fun..

I have Dunlop A2 Sports that did fine in the snow up to Tahoe, love the rain, and do very well in the dry- and they're quiet going down the road. The only thing they lack is a blingy tread pattern.

It's all good man. You'll just have to forgive my temporary brain failure.
Seriously though, when I had 225/50/16 712's on my stock rims the car handled great in the rain. I used to hit puddles on purpose just because I knew I could.

gotta love stock 14s ;(;(

I'll prolly get 215/45/17s from wheelmax and see what type of package they can give me with those. I'm liking the exel tz-10s on there, 799 with random tires, maybe I can get it for like 850 with the kumhos.

I just went through one of the nastiest winters in this area in a long time with Kumhos. I never had a problem with wet roads but snow is another thing. I had some scary moments. I have a new set of Kumhos now but I will definately put something else on next winter.

ehh I'll see how it goes. Wheelmax put the rims I want on special (exel tz-10s), with some random ass size tire. I'm gonna call them to order and see if they can swap them with 215/45/17 kumho 712s. If they can't, are 205/40/17 nankangs that bad?

They are amazing in the rain. Im confident I could get a 1.9 sixty or less in the rain with them
