Spring Compressor?

I am contemplating buying some shocks and srpings from a guy. The combo is agx's and h&r springs, the only problem is they are already connected to each other. He says he needs a spring commpressor to get the springs off but i have done two spring swaps on my brother's 91 awd and neither needed a compressor. Am i missing something? thanks.

I've put a couple sets of lowering springs in dsm's before and never needed a spring compressor either....

thats what i did
