Been through all the noise threads and havent seen one quite like this.

Its this thud thud thud thud thud sound that only happens when decelerating. Heres how it works
If i accelerate it stops
If I tap the brakes it stops
If I turn the wheel a bit to the left it stops
If I turn the wheel a bit to the right it gets louder?

Oh yeah , its coming from the front passenger side. Any thoughts ?

My first thought was to never slow down again , but that plan seems a bit flawed.
My second thought was to turn the radio up really loud , that seems to be working pretty well for me.

could be cv joints. There was a recall onthe lower control arm bearings or something like that. do a search and check if you car has had the recall done yet. Take your vin number to the dealer and check if they have had it done.

Yeah , I saw the posts about the recall. It doesnt really "sound" like that is the problem , but I do plan on checking into that.

I forgot to mention that the suspension is bone stock , I have done no suspension tweaking. I am one of those rare people that refuses to lower a vehicle until there are something other than stock rims on it.

That was my original thought , but when they start to go usually they "tick" under power. This is thudding when I coast , I guess either way I will have to pull the s o b apart and check it out. I wonder how high dollar the CV joints are for this beast.

FYI , I fixed it.

So i went to take the wheel off to check things out , and half of the lug nuts where finger loose. But I had already check them a couple days before and they were tight. HMMMMM

So after half a turn of being loose I had to bust out the breaker bar. 4 out of 5 lugs ended up breaking off clean. Then it occured to me that I had new tire put on a couple weeks prior , and the noise started a few days after that. Dont know why I didnt put that one together sooner , anyway they cross threaded 4 of the studs and impacted them on the best they could. With them loosing up , the studs started to bend. THats what the noise was , the rim slapping against the hub.

I put in new studs , new nuts . Its perfect now. Cost me like 15 bucks to fix , but I will more than likely get free tires out of the deal too.
