rim size choice

im planning on lowering my car a max of 2".im trying to decide on whether i should go with a 16" or 17" rim.im a fwd so traction is important.would have you guys used and replaced.
in a 16 i was thinking 225-50-16/or 17 in a 225-45-17
i have searched and never really found the answer i was looking for.

but what are your plans for the car, that will determine the wheel size.
