Ok. I got off work, was driving when I heared a scraping sound like my tire was scratching a piece of plastic. I've checked just about all of the possible problems( axles, tranny, remove plastics around wheels) and nothing. So I lift the car on jack stands and check the wheels, lug nuts and rotors. And then I tried to move the wheel and the whole thing rocked back and forth. Oh yeah, when I drive straight it makes the sound and when I turn right no sound is made. Please help. Here is a video.

Yea you need new wheel bearing there not to much might as well change the other side as well if you have not. I am sure there is a wright up on how to do a wheel bearing in the how to articles.

So, It is the wheel bearing the problem after all. Do you know if those things are expensive? Could I use some from the wrecking yard? And do I have to replace both sideS even though the other side is not moving at all?

there like 40 bucks a piece i would change both you just use a press to press them in and out might as well replace the seals as well. I wouldnt use a salvage one no tell how long it will last. Nice rims and I like the red calipers.

Presses are nice, but you do not need a press to put one in.

First you need to pull off both grease seals on both sides of the bearing.

It works really good if you just take the whole assemble off the car and put it in a vice. This means disconnecting your strut, lower ball joint, and tie rod.

There is a huge snap ring on the back side of the bearing assemble (towards the tranny), pull that out.

Then get something that is large enough to tap the bearing out. Like a super big socket.

After that hit the socket with a really big hammer. Hitting in the direction of the tranny. This will take a few good hard hits to get it out.

Then just put the new bearing in, just use the old bearing to tap it back in with the hammer.

Sometimes you can save your bearing if all the bearings are still intact. By filling it back up with grease and put new wheel seals in.

Wish you luck.

Thank You all for your help and support, I guess I got to start tearing stuff apart.:hellyeah:

Whoa. First of all, how did you come to the conclusion it is the wheel bearing? Just becuase your wheel moves, doesn't make it the bearing. First, that the wheel off, and spin the hub. Does it make a lot of noise, or grind? Is your axle nut tight, or the ball joint nut tight?

I disagree, he said he checked everything else. If the axle nut, tie rod, ball joint, and lug nuts are all tight, it's definitely the wheel bearing. I had the same problem (wheel would move back and forth when jacked up) and fixed it when I replaced the wheel bearing.

Also look closely at the strut. There is no movement in it, thus not the lower ball joint. Wish I could see another view. But it does appear to be the bearing.

I dont want to be rude or anything, but his wheel moved EXACTLY like mine did when the axle nut was loose. And when he moved it didnt grind at all, or so it seemed. So, i just wanted to give him another thing to look at instead of spend over 100 bucks to get someone to press in a new bearing. I did it once on the same side as his, and it was NOT fun at all. ROFL Get back to us OP. :)

You don't have to spend money on a press holmes. I did both sides with no press, it just takes a really big hammer and a big ass socket. :D

Well , the It grinds when I drive It , when there is pressure on the wheel not when It's on the air with no pressure on the wheel. The strut don't move , nothing else moves except with in the hub. I check and re-check everything even the axle nut. The funny thing is that It only grinds when I am going straight because when I turn It doesn't grind, especially when I turn right . And I tried to drive like that and the noise is getting louder and louder. So Its parked for now. Whats the worst It could happen if I drive It like that? Anyone?

Hey Guys quick question. Does any know what size the lower ball joint nuts are on 2g Gsx? I'm changing the wheel bearing. Sorry for thread jacking and thanks
