Princeton,
i have a 2G FWD with a green on it. right now i'm running kumho Escta supra's and despite what everyone says, i can't stand them. at 14 pounds of boost, the car is totally worthless in first and second gear because the tires break loose by 4k. just in case you're wondering, i have a quaife in the car too. i'm assuming that the only way i can get more traction (Besides buying a GSX) is to get the absolute best tires. i'm thinking about the G-force t/a KDs or the S-03 pole positions. just to note, i do not want to run slicks on the street. does anyone have any experience with these tires and if so, could you share it with me so i can make a decision.
thanks
joel

i've read that thread, i'm looking for someone with experience with the two tires that i listed because those are the two i'm considering.
thanks

i did run the kdw on my gst but im not running some real high numbers. i do know that after they would heat up i had trouble getting them to break. they would stick and take off. iam goin to get kd next due to the fact i realized that with my eclipse being a pleasure car im not driving it in the rain or snow so i dont need the wet feature.:thumb:

What size tire are you running or going to be running? Have you considered drag radials? I dont think normal street tires will be able to handle a fp green. Right now I am running 225/50/16 retreads from turbotrix and with my big 16g they grip very good and do not spin in second gear. I am running 20psi, so I do not know how that would compare to 14psi with a green. My next tire will hopefully be 245 or wider if I can make them fit with spacers/longer wheel studs.. Also, I am not too far from you, I live about 30 mins away from you in edison, near new brunswick. Maybe we can meet up sometime. Soon I will be getting a green or maybe 7cm red...

i'm running 225/45/17's but i think i'm going to run 235/40's assuming i get the bridgestones. i do not really want to run drag radials on the street due to the fact that i cannot afford to replace the tires three times a year. i think i'm going to order them next week.
as far as meeting up: i just moved to flemington and i'm always there. i've already met about 5 DSMer's in my town. i'm always willing to meet new people. send me an email and we'll figure something out

the g-force t/a's are about 200 a tire for a 225/45/17. the Bridgestones at 235/40/17 are about 170. as far as comparison for the two, the bf goodridges rated .2 higher on a scale of 1-10 in the dry than the bridgesones, but the bridgestones rated significantly higher in the wet. i think i'm going with the S-03's because i can get them in a wider width and i won't kill myself if i get caught in the rain with them.

I've run quite a few tires in the short time having my car.

Kuhmo's are the worst tire for a fwd, they will let go w/very little power.

Heres what I've ran:

225/40/17 Nitto 555:
F'n suck, even from a roll w/agx on 8 in the rear I could light them up on a roll w/16psi on my sm16g.

235/45/17 and 225/50/16(on stock swirl rims) A520's:180 treadwear
I went from those nitto's 225/40/17 to the yoko a520 235/45/17(17*8 rims). Night and day. NO spinning of 2nd on a roll. I put ~12k on them and the treadwear has at least another 12k left. And to all the p!ssies crying about how like the tire is just lame.

225/45/17 Falken Azenis Sports:200 treadwear
These tires flat out stick and just dont stop gripping on turns. They are a heavy tire like posted before, from all the sidewall reinforcements. I've run up to 19psi w/18-19 degrees of timing and NO spinning 2nd gear. You do have to hold on tight because they will make a 2 lane change for you. I have a good 9k on them and the tread still looks strong.

Only bad thing is they like to wheelhop even with:
Solid steel welded front and rear motor mounts.
Full ES bushing kit for entire suspension
Agx in the rear set to 8
Prokit

I got them not to hop, but you've got to raise the tires pressure. I think that the sidewalls are to stiff for low psi because the dont give at all in the sidewalls like a DR would. I had the same hop problem w/the a520's which also have stiff sidewalls.

If you have a quaife and not worried about hopping, I'd go w/the Falken Azenis Sports
G-force KD if you got the cash.

You're not talking about the nitto drag radials are you? I would like to get a pair of them in the near future and hope I can get better traction.
