looking for tires that get the job done when wanting traction on a fwd is needed on the street and everynow and then on the strip? any opinons?

I have had experience with the drag radials. I ran them on the street. They don't last long maybe 1 year of full on driving. I had 225-45-S, with my evo3 G I would have to give every other fwd car at least a one car head start so the race would be kinda fair. They do hook very nice once warmed up. For regular street tires I had a good experience with the bridgestone pole position. I'm not sure if they make that tire anymore. It was a very sticky street tire but very pricey.

So you want tires that get the job done but only if they're cheap? :D

Maybe you can tell us what you'd want to pay per tire (and the wheel size they're going on). That way people aren't throwing out suggestions that are out of your budget. Also let us know if tire wear is important at all, as that would rule out drag radials.

For a reasonably priced sticky street tire I like the Falken RT-615, the Kumho MX, the BFgoodrich KDW, and the Hankook R-S2, pretty much in that order.

yeah what Chris said. And add the BFG R1's up there with the Nitto 555r's....

no im willing to spend 150 on a tire i was just mentioning the fact that they were exspensive.

would it be possible to run a slick on the stock 2g rims?

Is this for drag racing only? A 6.5" wide wheel is for from ideal if you plan on turning the wheel in these cars. I wouldn't buy a racing tire for the stock wheels. If you're drag racing that's a different story and I'd let someone else field that question.

Nitto Tires

Look at the 555 or 555r or for a more affordable option look at the Neo Gen's

A very overlooked tire and a very very good tire at the same time

Nitto Extreme Performance Tires

ok...the only tire i would ever consider from Nitto is the 555r's. the 555's are complete garbage, traction and handling is horrible in them(yes i have had experience on these tires and i have owned/autox'ed/raced in a wrx and s2000 with many different types of tires. ive also worked at Americas Tire Company for about 4 years, and i can not tell you now many Nitto 555's ive seen fail since ive worked there.

like ludachris said, the falken rt615 is a very good tire for cheap, although the tire does not do too well in the wet due to the huge tread blocks it has. the BFG kdw is also a good tire(i want to say that this tire is a better all around tire than both the hankook and rt615), but it is a little more pricey IIRC. The Hankook RSZ212 is a tire that is pretty much compairable to the rt615 on the auto-x track, and would be a good tire if you do not want to pay a couple bucks more for the BFG's, and if you want something that will do well in the wet and dry.
