If so, do you rub at all?
Did you have to roll your fenders?

Just curious, as I am looking to change my setup again, and run the Sportlines.

Please let me know.
Thanks,
Nathan

99GST,

I just want to add to what L2RTSiAWD has said. An important consideration to be made here is "How Wide Are Your Rims". I say this because on my old GST is used to run TSW VX1 (the ones in my sig pic) which were 17x8" rims with sportlines. My first set of tires, Nitto 450s, gave me no problems. When I tried to switch over to Dunlop SP9000s I drove out of the garage and notice the rear fenders immediately cut grooves into the tires.

Moral of the story, consider rim width [ie. offsets] too. And from experience the Eibach Sportlines won't sag enough to be of real concern, in the form of tucking into the wheel well, until they've been on the car for over a year.

I have the tsw vx1's 17*8 that gsx is talking about, because I have his old car. Reach under the rear fender and you'll feel a .5" lip. We took a little saw and cut it out of the way. Problem solved.

215/45 nitto 450's didnt rub
225/40 nitto 555 didnt rub
225/45 falken azenis sports rubbed
235/45 yoko a520 would have rubbed for sure

I now have those 235/45/17 on the rear w/o any rubbing at all.

Remember not all 225/45/17 will be the same width. Go to tire rack and you'll notice that road race/autox tires have are wider/flatter than non high performance tires.
Quick example:
My 225/45/17 falken azenis sports are 9.1" width according to the specs of falkens site.

All measure on a 7.5" wide rim
Fk451 225/45/17 are 8.8
Sports 225/45/17 are 9.1
Kumos 225/45/17 are 8.8

These number will be even wider if mounted on a wider rim such as my 8" wide rim.

So if I can fit 235/45/17 on a 8' rim on prokits that have sagged as low if not lower than sportlines, you should have a problem.

I get MAD rubbage, thats actually why im posting, I need some help getting rid of this...

I have:

18"x7.5" Rims
225/40/18 Hercules Tires
Eibach Sportline springs
Tokico Illumina 5-way adjustables

and I get mad rubbage, I just went from the pro-kit to sportlines, and I have a huge rubbage problem, in send the fender well, just inside the trim, there is a half inch horizontal menta sticking out, all the way around the trim, I know its rubbing on that because I see the black from my tires all over it, and I can see it cutting into my tires, haha. Anyways, should I cut/sand, or bend this? or wtf do I do?

Does anyone have any other opinions to what I posted before? Is cutting it or sanding it down an option? I gotta take it in for an alignment this weekend anyways, should I ask them to roll them up or something? Or should I just take it to myself and cut or sand?

I think the easiet thing to do, is to cut small slices about 3 to 4 inches apart on the lip. This will weaken the lip and allow you to roll up each section with your fingers.

After you have that done, then I would get it aligned. But that is just my opinion.

I was thinking about that as well, that is what I am going to do. And gawdam that was a fast reply, LOL, that was a matter of seconds. Being that we have a unibody, my friend says that it could fux0r something if I start cutting the trim in there, is it 100% safe? I don't see how it's wouldnt be safe, it doesnt look like its that important anyways, heh. Thanks Nathan.

Just like cucumber said. You should be fine. Alot of people do this without any trouble.

Good luck, and let us know your outcome.

Okay, I cut it every 3 or so inches, and its a pain in the ass to bend, I dont even see the purpose of that non sense metal sticking out. Anyways, there is no way to get any leverage, I used plyers, and got it up A LITTLE, but it needs to be folded up for it to work properly. What sort of tool, or what should I try doing?

Thanks.

i have sport lines with 7.5 wide adr wheels and had 225/40/18 and i took a real hard broomstick and roled and pushed up at the same time and it worked stillrubed a little bit. i just went with 215/35/18 it is perfect now

There is no way in hell im spending money on new tires. Im gonna roll withough my fenders if I have too, haha. No ill figure something out, im gonna take off my wheels and heat the metal up a little bit and bend it, and if it still rubs im straight up cuttin that shiz off. And if it still rubs, then I guess new tires =/ That will come after my t3/60-1.

Thanks guys, you've been great help

Why has nobody mentiond OFFSET? That has alot to do with it fitting or not. A 245 wide tire with the right offset can fit and a 225 with to little offset will rub.
And what springs you use has noting to do with it unless the springs are so hard that they won't compres at all. Because when you bottom out it doesn't matter what brand spring you use. The wheel will be at the same place. The only thing to think about is camber correction. When you lower you car your probably going to get a camber kit. And they will usually "move" the top of the wheel out instead of the bottom of the wheel in. So this will put you closer to the fender then some one that has not gotten there camber adjusted.

I don't remember anyone saying it had to do with springs. You are abselutely correct about offset. After I fold the fender trim up and if it still rubs i'll look into it, thanks swede.

I have H&R spring, and my 97 GST lower almost as much with Sportline. My tire and wheel size are 225/45/17. my front didn't rub, but my rear does. However, I rolled my fender wall, so everything is fixed now.

Yeap, mine is all fixed now too, I can roll 5 deep again, heh. No rubbage what-so-ever. Thanks everyone.

i have 215/40 17/7.5 with a 40 offset. what offset do you have? i think i'm going to rub no matter what i do
