Currently I have 17" 5Zigen Typhoons, and was thinking on upping my size to 18 Racing Harts. But, I am curious as to how the ride is on a 2G with a 40 series tire. I had a 40 series on my previous civic SI, but, that was a honda, not our DSMs.

Anyway, curious as to your opinion on ride quality, in the city, on the highway, going over highway bumps, city bumps, rim damage potential, etc....

All opinions are welcome. Please let me know.

shuwa, you're also in a non-turbo car, which sits higher than the turbo models stock for stock. you'd need a more extreme drop to bring the car down to the dropped level of a turbo car.

as far as 18s go, the only problems i've heard are slight rubbing, depending upon how wide the rim is. you may have to roll the fender. if you get the wheels and tires, watch for rubbing. after a little driving, check the wheel well and tire to see if the inner (and outer) edges are rubbing.

Smooth ride but once you hit a pothole, forget it and get a new rim.
 
correct me if im wrong and im pretty sure im not...............the gst, gs and rs have the same springs avaible to them. now the spyder and gsx are a different story. they are heavier and require more to bring them down, different spring rate. so no ur gst is no different than a gs or rs spring setup. :rolleyes:

But, until i move further away from our city streets, I think i will stick with my 17's. Perhaps, in the summer, when I am cruising on the xpressway only, will i buy 18's. That or until I move away from the downtown area :)

215/35/18...already bent a rim, rides very rough...i hit potholes and cringe. if i could have done it over, i also would have gone with a 17" wheel.
 
lowridin2g,the springs on the GS-T are stiffer than the NA's.I use to own a 97 GS.My spring rate was much softer.Mind you I brought both my car Brand spakin new with less then 500 on the odo...I've done cut spring thing back in the day on both cars.You can tell the difference in the ride.
 
Well if you guys would ay attention to where you drive you would have bent rims...hahahaha I also have a bent one dure to road contrustion on the interstate. The cut the raod down until the bridge, the bridge face was about 3 inches higher than the road. You don't see it that good going about 75. I thought I knocked the front end off.

I have 18x8.5 with 225/40's . the ride also depends a lot on your springs and shocks. I have neuspeed sport springs with tokico illuminas.
 
I have racing hart 18" Evo C5, THEY ARE GOD!! I love the look, although a litle bumpy, really nice... totally worth the money. Racing Hart = Good. I got mine from wheelmax.com, they have a great deal going... free shipping, reduced cost for balancing, free packaging and a 100 $ insurnace fee for a year so if you damage the rims, they will send you knew ones. Really good deal for around 1600 for the C5, don't know about the other rims...
