S-Techs and AGXs, thoughts?

I started out with new S-techs and gr2s on my 91 Tsi AWD (which i know was now a mistake). I had problems with the shocks compressing and banging (with no bumpstops, forgot to check them stupid me) and the ride is far from great, pretty sure the gr2s are shot already.

I would like to try the s-techs and AGXs but i'm a little concerned that even on a stiffer settng with bumpstops in the front the front this setup might do the same thing. Before I make a decision here, my questions are:

What do you think about an AGX/S-tech combo?
and
Where can i get front bumpstops?

P.S. sorry if this doesnt' make complete sense right now, i'm far from sober. :shhh:

Tein S.Tech springs are horrible. They have spring rates that are softer than stock. Also, they have been known to drop the car significantly more than what they say.

that's what I'm thinking, they were supposed to be a 1.6 inch drop but they seem to be more of a drop than the megan racing springs!

how about AGXs and Sprint springs? I'm poor so i'm looking for a cheap solution to lowering the car and having it handle curves and bumps alright.

I ran AGX and Sprint springs together on a 93 TSI AWD. It lowered the car quite a bit. As for ride, it wasn't undriveable but for the type of roads I was driving on, I didn't really like that ride. I used that set up for close to a year with out killing the shocks. Some people say the spring springs will ruin them within a few hundred miles, this was not the case for me. I do not remember what setting I had the shocks at but I remember it taking a little playing with till it felt right. For the price, if you just want a lowered car that doesn't fly all over the road, sprint and agx aren't a bad combo. You can run a search for sprint springs and find pretty many threads of people running this combo and being happy with it.

I'm pretty sure i want to go with a AGX/sportlines (like i should have in the first place, doh), but i still can't find bumpstops. Can anyone point me to a vendor online?

If you care at all about performance go with Prokit springs or any springs that lower the car less than 1.5" until you have enough money for Konis and Ground Controls. If you just want a lowered look and don't care about good handling or having to replace struts every year or two (due to the lowering springs) go with the Sportlines or springs with similar specs. Anything more than 1 to 1.5" drop is detrimental to handling with these cars, they don't do well "slammed". TireRack will sell you bumpstops.

Well i'll deinatley take the advice of the all mighty Chris :D I'll try taking that route and see what bumpstops i can find on tirerack, thanks bro.

yokotabrat- that is a great link, but sadly I did recieve the real S-Techs and they were horrible. I should have just taken a bedspring and glued it to the shock (it would have definately felt the same).

Fwiw I've had plenty of experience with s tech springs and I hated them. I have had experience with h&r sports on 2 separate cars and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a moderate drop and a good performance upgrade.

The s tech's are too soft and left me feeling unsure going in to corners which is a feeling I am not fond of at all LOL.
