So my friend that has a supercharged maxima has decided that he and possibly 2 other guys from maxima.org are the only true weight reductionists and I'm thinking of following his example by removing the sound deadening tar. It seems slightly pointless because it isn't too much weight but spyders are heavy and it's not complicated to remove. I'm just wondering where all this stuff is. I've seen where it is on his car but maximas are slightly different than eclipses. Just wondering how much of it there actually is and where it is.

yeah, that didn't really tell me much of anything.

on our vehicles, there is very little sound deadening compared to the maxima and other vehicles like that. What yuoll need to do is take out your carpet and remove some panels such as the rear speaker covers and rear wheel well covers. Underneath the carpet and panels are going to be black stuff that covers the metal. Use dry ice on it and it will crack and pop off when you take a chisel to it. You wont be losing much weight, so there really isnt much point.

eh... not worth the benefits of the work really. Taking out some of the emissions stuff, like the charcoal cannister and going with a light weight battery are two good ways to shed some weight. I have a nice Odyssey batter that only weighs 15 pounds (which is a far cry from the 50 pounds of my optima)
