Alright guys. I've made my move into road racing now. I've already done the front suspension with KYB AGX's wrapped by Eibach Pro-kit springs, and the rear is next.
Last night I took off the left strut off and it was a pain in the butt. First, I took off the 2 top nuts from the top of the strut tower that mount to the car. Then I took off the brake hose bracket. Then i took off that 17mm bolt holding on the bottom of the strut to the hub assembly. It didn't come off very easily so I sprayed some pb blaster, and wd-40 onto the rubber part of it. I tryed to pull it out by hand, and it wasnt comming out. I got a pry bar and after about 25 minutes of prying on it and spraying more lube in there, it finally came out. I looked at the rubber on the bottom mounting part of the strut and it seems as if the rubber fused and glued itself to the metal mounting point.
The right rear strut was even harder to take out off of the lower mounting point, and my dad suggested that I get one of those pullers they loan out at Auto Zone. I got the largest puller they had and put the puller around the strut hole. After 2 minutes of tightening the puller, the strut came out of the mounting point easily. A lot of rubber was left of the metal mounting point on the hub. I took it all off with a wire wheel on my rotozip and sprayed wd-40 on it.
Should I put any type of grease or lubricant on the botttom mounting point before i put in the new KYB AGX's with Eibach Pro-kit springs on the rear?
