Weird problem keep breaking hose at same spot

The line that connect to the top of the PS pump keeps cracking on the metal part. Its the small part of the elbow that goes from the actual bolt fitting to the rubber part of the hose. My last part only lasted about a month. My guess is that the fitting right below is vibrating against it after i removed the Balance shafts. Im just wondering if this is a common problem?

How are your motor mounts?

I just replaced the right tope one after the new engine swap. The rest were fine...i actually removed the tranny motor mount and it looked good. So nothing out of the ordinary.


(only 5k miles or so on new motor and i checked them all on motor install.)

OK, then my only other idea is to yank on the PS pump to see if the bracket is strong, but I'll bet you've already done this.

You might get a shop to weld-up one of the cracked ones, maybe even add a bit of strap metal as a brace.

try changing the brand of hose that you use from... for example at my autoparts store, instead of the 15 dollar cardone's to the 30 dollar bendix. Sometimes, certain brands just have tendancies to do certain things.

I did some modifying and fixed it. I shaved some metal off the new hose i got for free (warranty) so it would turn a little more (where the notch is....i just moved it up a little) and now it doesnt vibrate against the hose right below it. Ib elieve the problem was cause by all the vibrations form my car ( FWD, with a lot of mods and no balance shafts, shitty stock suspension, and lost of wheel hop)
