do i really need shocks? can my stock ones just suck it in, i dont want to buy rediculously expensive shocks, or shocks at all. All i want is like not even two inches. is that too much to ask for.

what if i just get springs? will that work? help me?

no it wont work..... well actually it will but not for long and not the way it is supposed to. if you put performance springs it will lower your car and they come in different ride heights. if you want less then 2 in Eibach Pros is a very good set to go with. i think it estimates a 1'' to 1.5'' if i'm not mistaken, i could be wrong. on my gs i have Eibach Sportline springs they are stiffer for a more aggerssive drive. they say that they are to lower to 1.6 to 2.0 and i got about a 2.25 drop all the way around.
as for your s, your oem's would be to long for you after market springs and with time your shocks would crap out and loose all pressure; which will make your car very unstable and at high rate of speed very dangerous. I say if your going to up grade one then you really need to upgrade the other

Your stock shocks will probably last 6 months or less if you drop your car without buying aftermarket shocks. If I were you I would just hold off. I use to have an RS and I dropped it 2.0 inches with sprint springs and kept the stock shocks but after a couple of months the shocks were gone. I have a GST Spyder now and I'm still saving up to drop my car with GC coilovers and Tokico or Koni shocks!!!!! :D

I have a 98 Eclipse Spyder with Eibach Pro-Kit and Stock Shocks. It's been 3 months now and Everything is Good.

I know a couple of guys had there's stock with the Pro-Kit for over a year with no Problems. Huhhh??

I install the Springs myself (You Do Not Need a Compressor) to get the job done. (I have a Air Compressor and air tools which makes taking of stubborn bolts/nuts real easy).

So when my shocks blow - I'll get either some performace Shocks or get another pair of stock shock for like $25.00 each (Brand New) and after another year replace them. (Stock shock feel really nice - not stiff like performance shocks at all - Can't tell the difference from a stock ride with the exception of being lowered about 1.8").

Think of it this way - After 3 years, it would cost me $300.00 for new shocks every year for 3 year or I could spend $450-$500 on performance shock and have a stiff ride.

stiffer ride yes, better handleing yes, better of the line acceleration yes, safer yes, and the tokico blue gas struts i got go for $79.00 a piece there still in awsome shape (i just wanted something better) after 4 years; you do the math

the reason its stiffer (and SAFER) is because by lowering your car you have shortened the travel distance of the shock considerably. because of this - if the shock is still soft - you will compress them to their limit very easily - if the stock is stiff - you won't be able to compress them to the limit on a speedbump or by normal driving conditions. you may be causing your suspension mounds considerable damage or the underneath of your car by using the stock shocks w/lowering springs.

with anything else in life - DO IT RIGHT... or you will have problems later

thats my 0.02¢

thz for your .02, i guess theres really no other way :( so basically it takes the same crap to drop it 2-3 inches as it does 1.5 inches. right?
where can i get a good cheap camber solution for like a 2" or so.

i have sportlines on my 2g with no camber kit just alignment and i have about 2 deg. of + camber ( /----\ ) and actually my car i feel handles better. you dont feel any difference in ride qualty compared to if it had 0 camber at any time. you can only see it and tell in the rear and yes in the rear the inside tire wall wears faster than the rest of the car and i wish i had a picture to show how little the difference was on my nitto 450's but its like 20% of tire tread left on the outside and 10% left on the inside tire wall, which really is not that big of a difference. you just need to make sure you balance and rotate every oil change or 3000 miles and you wont need to spend $200 to $300 for a camber kit
