I'm in the market for lightweight 17's with 235/45/17 tires. I looked at the wheel weight page and the Centerline "impulse" rims were ~11-12 pounds for 17's. I could not find these rims for the life of me to even get a price. But, i did find the Centerline "storm" rims which look exactly the same. Does anyone have any info on if they are the same rim just different name? I realize i can call the company also but i thought i'd post for any future questions. There is also no listing for impulse on Centerline's website which leads me to believe this is true. TIA :dsm:

Yea, i hear what you are saying. But there are also many members with 17x7's with 235 tires. There's "minimal" buldge and a greater contact patch for more grip. So that's why i decided with those tires, but thanks for the info. Any info on those rims? they are really cheap and the lightest wheel in production for 17's and they look really nice. Win-win all around

I'm sorry, but I can't help it. This is the handling forum. In here we make suggestions as to how to make the car handle better. If you are going to run 235s and you want to get the most lateral grip as possible from your tires, you want a 7.5"- or 8"-wide rim. I'm sorry I can't answer your question. I'm also sorry that I felt obligated to point out that you really want wider wheels for handling. It's what I do.

I know what you were getting at and what you are saying. I'm not looking to do autocross, and i rarely go to the track and 7.5-8" width in the rims i would get are expensive, or discontinued or on a long backorder. I was looking for the best handling for the width of the rim (7") which i believe would be 235.

And i found my answer, they are the same. 11.8 pounds for the 17's, inexpensive, forged, and a 3 year warrenty. Almost can't beat it. I'm suprised more people don't have these (probably cause of the width)
