Anyone have any experience with K Sport coilovers? Appear to be a decent setup for a good price. 36 point adj dampening, comp/rebound adj, adj perch... Only thing I'm wondering about are the spring rates. The front of 727 seems a bit high while matched with a 392. Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Vehicle: Eclipse
Year: 95-99
Part #:CMT06-KP

F Spring Rate: 13/727

R Spring Rate: 7/392

Notes: Incl. Front & Rear Top Mount

I have them on my car and they ride excellent... I have my spring rates 503lbs up front and 340lb in the rear. I currently have them 3-4 settings away on maximun stiffness for the street and they handle awesome. they cut my 60ft down to a 1.6 on crappy street tires as well. The only negative thing I have heard others complain about is the Dust cover Is there but it doesnt extend all the way up to the pillow ball mount like the D2s do... The dust covers on mine look fine though... I've only had them for a few months so well see how they do this summer and upcoming winter..

Not to brag, but I cut 1.6 60's on OEM suspension and stock hard-as-hell rubber Kumho Ecsta 711's. Wonder what could be done with a suspension setup.

Not to flame but your running a 16g turbo, I cut 1.50s 60fts all day long with my 16g years ago on stock suspension... My Gt35R is unforgiving and i Spin them well into 2nd gear on street tires... Stupid comments like this do not help the guy asking about K-sports..

no they dont... Moving on, do you run them with the pillowball mount? On their website they say nothing about a p mount for 2g. Like you said, you only have had them for a few months but, how are they handleing thus far? I'm looking to get more into auto x and open track events and want somthing that will work well. The price is right on these, I'm just not sure how they compare to other companies products. Also, how are they for changing settings? Pretty straight forward or do they need to be dismounted from the car to change?

Why 13/7? Because you need to get total roll resistance up to maintain front camber in turns. But why only 7 in the rear? Why not 12/8 or 11/9? Because your off-the-shelf (even if an expensive shelf) shock cannot seem to handle more than 400 in the rear. Plus, keeping the majority of the weight transfer in the front will keep the car going where it is pointing (as opposed to snap-spinning when the idiot driver panics and lifts at mid-corner).

With all that said, for a street car that only autocrosses (or road-races) every now and then, I'd get 11/6 or 12/6 and RM swaybars and do something to get a bit more front camber. But this really depends on driving style and what you want to do with the car.

ps. please: no more 60' times unless the thread-starter says s/he is interested in launching

My guess is they screwed up when they put the page up on K sport. The other dsm specs are all a 9/504 front and 7/392 rear. That is the only thing that makes sence to me. I figured for the price of this setup I would be about the same as going with Koni and some custom coils. Add in some swaybars and I think it should do wonders for the handling, unless someone knows otherwise????

I stand corrected. I called up K sport and spoke with a guy there, he said the web site is the correct information. So, for the 2Gs, they are running F Spring Rate: 13/727 R Spring Rate: 7/392. I still think that seems a bit high. But, maybe include a rear sway bar and it will even out moreso.

Has anyone used the AR or GR versions? The AR is for tarmac rally events and the GR is for gravel rally events. I had been looking at DMS coilovers but at $3800:notgood: i would love to find a decent rally coilover alternative at a much better price (i have found these for $957).
thanks

Front motion ratio is about .72, so the front wheel rate is about 375.
Front of car weighs about 925 per corner for a weight to wheel-rate ratio of about 2.5.

Rear motion ratio is about .91, so the rear wheel rate is about 325.
Rear of car weighs about 650 per corner for a weight to wheel-rate ratio of only 2.0.

Given this, why would you be thinking a *rear* sway bar upgrade is needed to "even it out"?

I had a variant of the ksports (f2's) on a previous car (94 del sol) and did not like them. I had 10k/6k and they rode too damn stuff regardless of where the shocks were set.

That being said, now that people have had these a year or so there are threads popping up on other forums I'm on about shocks starting to blow.I'd personally recommend spending the cash and getting something that offers a lifetime warranty such as the gc/koni yellow combo.

There is also a lot to be said for specifying spring rates :)
