Are these Coilovers worth my $..?

Instead of totally cheaping out, my setup works great for me. good ride quality around town and i can crank the AGX's up to the stiffest setting for autoX. only about 370 total invested in it too.

and ya, everyone will tell you that those coilover kits are garbage. the only thing they're good for is the spring perches, then you can go order some Hypercoils for $60 (?) per spring and be set :thumb:

They may be good they may not be, you'll never know until you try them. At $50 that's pretty cheap. I'm a firm believer in seeing to believe- allot of people on here will tell you they're shit, but have never run them, so they shouldn't make comments like that. Others have run them and they're still shit, they have a little room to talk. Other say they like them. I will say this though suspension is very important not just in terms of handling and performance, but with safety as well. Suspension components should be matched. The spring rates should be matched with the dampening of the shocks. You'll want a strut with a shorter shock body if you plan on lowering your car allot. You'll need to take camber into consideration as well as tire ware. Finally I'll say if this is what you're budget allows then that's what it is, but do some research so that you are happy in the long run with your choice.

what about some lowering springs. would those work.? or shocks and struts.. but i bet those would run me a ton..

Well you get what you pay for in this case. I would recommend just a simple set of Eibach pro kit springs and a nice set of kyb agx's. This seems to be the preferred set up of most dsm car owners. I have been in cars with coilovers and cars with springs. I thought the coilovers were a harder ride than those with springs, but I am sure that if you can find the right setup it may be different for you.

I had the same exact coilovers. They are junk, they blew out all my struts and the ride felt like I was driving a mattress down the road. They also wore alot of my suspension bushings prematurely and the coil is too small for the stock strut so it moves around and makes a crap ton of noise when your driving. They didn't really lower the car either, so if you buy these then you are just asking for trouble and I guarantee you will have to either get new OEM shocks or just upgrade to some tokicos or kyb's. Save yourself the money and get a good shock/spring combo.

my buddy with a 98 spyder had ebay coilovers on his car, dropped it right above the tire. the ride was fine but a lil bouncy. he had no other problems with it that i know of. for the price i guess you can't really go wrong. but in my opinion spend the extra and get something better.

I know for a fact that if you lower a 2g more than 2" you will need to correct the camber for sure, no matter what suspention you go with.

I personally have the Ground control GVR4 specific, and I can say that they are ok, but I have ridden in a 1g with TEIN's and There is absulutely no comparison.

Then again, if you are as serious about suspention as I am or many others, a full bodied coil-over strut is the only choice.

Happy DSMing!

you should be straight as long as you dont stop with that.. get some struts as well.. i went that route back in the day and broke my stock struts.. but its up to you man.. i say go for it if you like. :thumb:

I wouldn't buy them. Nowere on the site does it say the spring rates nor does it give you the option of what strut you are using. When I got my GC they asked me a few questions and gave me the rates that should work well with the strut I was using. My car rides very nice for just an AGX/GC combo and only cost about 600.00 for all the parts new. I have seen a few people put these on and they all had a bit of beat to fit paint to match type of install, so take that into consideration also.

Any time you take apart or alter the suspension you lose the old alignment settings so it will need one. Depedning on how low you go, you may or may not need a camber kit. I would get one so that no matter what, the place doing the alignment can get it set the correct way. Spending money here will save you from having to buy alot of tires later on.
