i searched for sum stuff and couldnt find a real answer.

What are the best lowering springs for the gr-2's??? Thanks

GR2s are pretty weak, so you don't want to drop them much or they'll go in about a year or two. Eibach is #1 on my list of spring makers, and I've heard that GR2s are ok with their pro-kit. I wouldn't go any lower than that. You can also spend a bit more and get Ground Control, which use the Eibach springs but have a height adjustable seat. But, if you're going to spend on springs, might as well spend on shocks too.

Ya, I also heard that lowering on the Gr-2's should not be anymore than 1".

I have some Gr-2's in my room right now I can't decide on springs either, I am probably going to go with Suspension Tech's or the Eibach Pro-kit.

ok thanks guys thats kinda what i heard. I bought some sprotlines but the ended up being on back order soo that turned out good. I think now i'll just wait for a while save for some koni yellows and maybe sportlines down the road.

is that a good combo??

I have sportlines. They're a little too low for me. I'll be switching to Ground Controls soon. If you like that superlow-ness, PM me and I'll send you mine. For a small fee of course. :thumb:

You do know that the thread-starter has a 1G, which is totally different from a 2G, right?

yea...umm thanks for the offer but i have a 1g and also im not looking to blow my shocks in the next month. That was my original problem. I might just be getting a prokit cuz this wheel gap is KILLING me!!!! its soo ugly. makes my new rims look like crap.

Sup Nick! For my ride i was planning to do a TEIN S Tech Springs on possibly GR2's or AGXs. I hear they are really good springs and are decently priced under $200! :thumb:

If you want cheap good springs... go w/ tein. If you want more expensive REALLY good springs, go with EIBACH ! Ive had both (on diff. cars) and you cant beat eibach's ride...

Give me your opinoins on both to better my decision! Which eibachs? Pro kit or Sportlines? Matched with what shocks?

hey nick if you are going to ditch the gr-2's and don't feel like throwing the cash out for koni yellows you can get a set of tokico illiminas(5 way adjustable) they are practically the same shock for half the cost of the konis. When I had my 1g I had koni yellows and sprint 2" drop springs and the car felt great, really solid feeling and the drop was sick looking especially with the 17's.

yea i dont know if i really wanna get rid of the gr-2s.. I was planning on getting sportlines but the ebay seller kinda screwed me over soooo. I think i just might get the prokit. but i really want it to be lower than 1 inch. maybe i'll look into getting some tokico illiminas. Thanks

So the concensus im getting here is that GR-2s are garbage for anything other than a stock spring, really, right? If thats true, then that sux for me..I just bought GR-2s and Sportlines off ebay for $250ish. Guess I'll just use the shocks till i can get some AGXs. :|

The GR-2s will last you about a year. Bums can beg more than $400 in a year. $400 will buy you some nice Illuminas.

They will only last a year on stock springs? I wasnt going to use them with the sportlines. What are the best shocks for lowering springs like Sportlines?

Sorry, this led me to think that you were gonna use that combo.

There are no BEST shocks. Excessive lowering puts more stress on your entire suspension system, not to mention your entire car, but the shocks are affected the most. Even performance shocks will have a shortened lifetime, but they will last longer than GR-2.

Ah, but you did mention it, so now please explain it. And while you are at it, please provide your definition of "excessive lowering." Thanks a bunch.

it's ok No Skillz. jtmcinder has previously stated that you will get the same effect from cutting stock springs as opposed to purchasing lowering springs.... ROFL

How did I miss this before?

With the exception of the price ratio, the above is total BS.

First off, the adjuster on an Illumina changes both compression and rebound, while that on a Koni Sport only changes rebound. (Guess which type of shock most people prefer.) Second, even when cranked all the way up, an Illumina can't produce anything like the rebound damping of a Koni Sport at a half-turn off full. (Guess what type of damping is most important to handling.) Third, only someone with a butt-load of Tokiko stock would suggest that Illuminas and Koni Sports are comparable in quality. (In this case, I leave you to come up with your own issue to guess about.)

Okay, so short of coilovers, what is the lowest/best drop combo you can get for a 1G AWD? I was thinking the 1" of the Pro-kits weren't enough, so I was looking at the Sportlines and KYB AGX's? But I don't want to compromise handling for looks.

has anyone here really had GR-2's and not just heard about them?

Ive had them with a 2in drop, and i loved it, no bounce, nice and firm.
and i had them for more then 3 years, no problem (sold the car so dont know if there still on). even others that like the handle/ride went out and brought some.

so to me there prettry decent, there not trash

I put the GR-2s on my car with stock springs, its day and night with the blown shocks that I had on the car for (a few :coy: ) years. They made the car ride about as stiff as my Dad's Volvo S60 AWD. They're not bad shocks from what I can tell. I cant chirp tires as well anymore or anything stupid like that, and i dont get NEARLY as much wheel hop anymore. The steering is better as well, along with braking.
