So I've been rocking some Wanli (Toyo Proxie chinese knock-off) tires for the last 1500 miles but while getting tuned at Road Race, Roy told me these tires had to go because the rubber is just too hard and the car was spinning 3rd gear. So I went to tirerack on a limited budget and found these on sale and bought them in 225/45/17 sizing. Hopefully these will help me hook up. They aren't a top tier tire but close and Z rated:

SP Sport FM901's wide tread features large interlocking tread blocks that are aligned in a directional pattern to enhance dry traction and handling, increase wet traction and resist hydroplaning. Dunlop's "Chaos" tread block arrangement varies the size and shape of the tread blocks to help break up repetitive patterns and minimize noise levels. On the inside, the SP Sport FM901 features two steel belts reinforced by a spirally-wrapped JointLess Band (JLB) of nylon to support the tread area for high-speed durability and predictable handling while minimizing weight and improving ride uniformity. Additionally, a single strand of steel that is spirally-wound forms beads that are rounder for a better fit to the wheel and to further enhance handling and ride quality.

What do you guys think? Getting them mounted up on Friday.....

Tire rack gives them a 8 for dry traction...

Go to the rack and select those and the kumho ectsa spt and the 712's those are the only other options that cheap..

The SPT's look interesting for the cost.

There are some Falkens in 225/45/17 that are cheaper and have much more dry grip. 901s and 712s are both pretty lousy.

Not to flame AT ALL but I already bought these tires and are getting them mounted this week, hence my asking of this particular tire. I don't know how I'm supposed to apply "I run Sumitomos, they're nice" to the equation

I bought these because of the sale price at tirerack. I know they aren't a top tier tire and I've run a bunch of different brands before, I was seeing if anyone has used these so I had real world info I could relate to. The best tires I've run are Kuhmo MX and Falken Azenis Sports but these are new to me.

Bingo. Most posts about tires are based on little or no experience with alternatives and/or a lot of cognitive dissonance (when the person claims that what they have is best). On the flip side, asking about tires or even starting a thread about them after already buying them is just begging for trouble. Better to be subtle about it by asking what pressure people who have them are running. That usually causes less grief, even if the replies are meaningless without some details on the suspension and alignment.

It sounds like you are trying to flame, but if you noticed all I said is that I run those tires, and they are not too expensive. It was my two cents, and nothing more. If you don't want to hear my opinion then don't listen.

No, I'm not flaming and it has nothing to do with whether or not I want to hear your opinion. The topic and post was asking if anyone has run Dunlop FM901s because I bought them and was looking for feedback. I'm just wondering what about that relates to "I run Brand X tires, try those" It's like "oookay, thanks". If you think its flaming then you are just butthurt. Its honestly a valid point.
