ok guys.... i need some opinions and some helpful answers. i want to keep my chrome 16" wheels on my 1g and i was wondering what size rotors could i still fit on the car? also, which brake kit to go with as far as quality goes.
another question, what is better--slotted, drilled, or both? thanks for all replies.

Slotted or drilled? That's a can of worms waiting to be opened.... I've got slotted Power Slots on my 91 and I'm happy. Almost any Big Brake kit you go with like the AEM, Baer, or others that use larger rotors than the factory 93-99 rotors will likely have some trouble fitting 16 inch wheels.

Do the caliper conversion at the same time - http://www.vfaq.com/mods/BigBrakesInstall.html

You can get stock size powerslots. But for any "big" brake kit you will need 17' or larger wheels.

hmmmmm....dilemma dilemma...LOL
i want to stay with the 16s just cus they are chrome and look nice plus they are cheap(from a friend) but, i want good breaks and rotors tho. if i can have the best of both worlds i will be happy. if i have to have 17s, i guess i will settle for the ones i have on my 2g, not chrome

thanks for your help guys :D

Bite the bullet and buy 17's and the Baer kit! :D It cost me a few bucks, but I am really pleased with it. I had 1999 GSX rims on my 1990 Talon and thought I had enough clearnance. My "brake upgrade" got significantly more expensive once I tried to bolt my wheels on and they hit my calipers. I ended up buying different 17's that had plenty of clearance. Good luck.

As far as everyday driving and short term racing goes, either are fine. A friend of mine cracked 2 different sets of cross drilled and slotted during heavy racing on a 4 mile road course, He's going with only slotted from now on.

i have my factory 16'' rims on my 2g with aem's big break kit... 13'' of stoping power (estimated 40% more stopping power) dirlled and slotted. but if you want the best one word.... BREMBO !!! when i buy my gsx or honda S2000 thats the set up i'm going with along with 4 piston calapers. without break pads about $3,000

oh also the aem big break kit fits just fine with the factory 5 star rim without any modification or having to buy 17'' rims however you will need to cut off your dust covres. you dont need them anyway all they do is block air you need to keep your rotors and pads cool
