Alright .. heres my plan

I own a 90 fwd eclipse and i want to lower it. Its already a 13 sec car so im not just ricing it up but i would like it to cosmetically look a little better. I originally wanted to go with GR2's and a Sportline setup. My friend has it on his civic and he has a smaller profile tire than i do and i didnt mind the ride at all. I read people saying the GR2s are bad for lowered vehicles cause they go out really fast.

My car is fwd turbo and i have 235/45/17's on the front and 215/45/17's on the back. Reason being i get tires for dirt cheap and the back ones for free .. I'd like to run 215's if i could ahold of some but for the time being i figured it wouldnt hurt to have some bigger ones on the front for traction since i had the option. Now i want to be able to lower the car and not rub.. if thats possilbe.. the 235's arent on the front wheels yet but if they will fit im going to go ahead and have them mounted. If not ill hold off until i can get a set of 215's for the front two. In any case i would like to know what a cheap affordable aftermarket shock/strut would be. Its a dsm .. main purpose is to surprise and kill .. .. but i would like it to look decent. GR2s just fit in the budget being $150ish on ebay new. And the sportlines are a nice drop and quality set of springs.

Please help me out if you have a chance!!

Thanks guys i appreciate it..

If you have eyes in your head and youve read any thing in the handling section about shox you would know by now that koni sport is the best budget shock on the market.

Thank you for that comment ..

a simple koni sport would do nicely ..

Anyone else? and does anyone think ill have problems with 235s?

I'm sorry 4G63 GST, some times I assume every one knows what i know. Koni is a superior shock, and a simple search will turn up numerous results. There is a guy named peter north, number one autocrosser in the world with a 2g eclipse who just started selling a hand pieced coilover unit, without spending the most attention to detail he decided to use the koni sport in his kit as they are pound for pound the best sport shock on the market.

The isolated difference between koni shocks and other brands is the adjustability. There are two things that contribute to feel and characteristic of the way a shock will perform, compression and rebound. Koni is the only shock that when adjusted is isolated to rebound adjustments. All other shocks adjust rebound and and compression at the same time and when building a street caryou want to leave compression alone. Too much compression on a bumpy road is going to be a jarring experience, the shock willslower to react and it's really only good for smooth track type conditions.

I must admit I know and understand the stuff in my head, but I am really not versed enough to try and get into any detail about this for fear of giving you false information. Besides, don't take my word or the next three guys that post here, a good search will inevitably lead you to water on this topic.
