1G Tie rod bushing help.

Just got my Energy tie rod bushings. I was wondering if anyone has ever done this on a 1g awd before, and can give me some help. Im just trying to figure out how to get the stock bushing off? I dont wanna rip it apart incase i need it for some odd reason. Any help would be great. thanks.
 
Bringing back an old thread, but nothing was answered in the original thread. I'm doing this exact thing tomorrow, asking the same question.
 
Correct, ES sells the bushing that goes between the outer tie rod and the spindle(arm). Do i just clean off the old bushing, slide this bushing on with lots of grease), and bolt it back up. What kind of grease?
 
So its just the bushing that is being replaced. I have only just replaced the entire rod, but all you do is pull off the spindle with a fork, there should be a ring around the bushing, take it off and the bushing, pack it with grease and put everything back together. the grease is just like any joint grease that you can get at a auto parts store. they will know what kind you need. hopefully this helps a little.
 
An even easier way to separate the tie rod from the spindle is to use a 2-3lb sledge and hit against the spindle where the tie rod goes in. The vibration usually pops the tie rod out. No pickle fork needed. Works great on ball joints too. The key is to use a heavy enough sledge to get it loose. Simple framing type hammers don't usually cut it.
 
Getting the tie rod out is easy. I'm working on the rear right now, so I couldn't get in and look at the joint. Thanks for the help though.
