Im getting new tires soon, I plan on mostly street but occasional strip, both drag and autox. Which do you feel is the best all around with wet traction and treadwear in mind?

1) Kumho Ecsta 712
2) Fuzion ZRi
3) Yokohama AVS ES100

He's asking for budget. I wouldn't call an SO3 budget :). Don't forget the Falken Azenis either. Probably the most bang for the buck for performance.

I don't have any experience with the Yokos, but I can say the Fuzions are worlds better than the Kumhos. I just recently went from Kumho 712s to the Fuzion ZRis and I am very pleased. Compared to the Kumhos, the Fuzions are all-around grippier and much better in the wet as well, no more hydroplaning. The Fuzions are also quieter and actually have a decent rim protector. :thumb:

When you're asking for everything (drag, autoX, rain, and treadwear) for around $100 per, then I'd say Kumho MX with nothing else being close.

I've had experience now with 3 sets of ES100's on two different AWD DSMs. For the price, they can't be beat. I can cut 1.6-1.7 60' times at the track with them and in wet weather they are incredible.

i know that with my yokohama avid v4s' i have awesome traction, in wet or dry. and they only cost 500 for all 4 mounted and balanced. i got them in 225/50/r16
:dsm: :talon: :laser:

I have had experiance with different model Yokohamas and found them to be a decent tire for the price. Friends of mine have used Kumho Ecstas and they wear unreasonably fast. No experiance with any Fuzions. Personally I would spend a little extra and get a good set of Bridgestone or BFG directional, >V rated, ~300 treadwear radials.

i second that. they are excellent tires for the price.

i work for firestone and have sold a few sets of the fusion zri tires and every seems to love them also alot of people are leaving great reviews for them at tirerack.com

Thanks for the input guys, ya, i am looking for a good budget tire that has around a 280 treadwear.

Ive pretty much already crossed out these:

1) Kumho 712s (Bad Bad Reviews)
2) Falken Azenis ( Wears too fast, R compound isnt necessary)
3) Kumho ECSTA MX ( Low treadwear )

So right now its between the Fuzion ZRi and the ES100s, i currently have ES100s on the front , and they have alot of life left, i think i might just replace the rears because they are bald, wierd-brand tires.

Hell, if you've already got a couple on the front and only plan on replacing the rears, go with the ES100's for a matching set. Even if that wasn't the plan I'd recommend them to you over your other choices.

I'm on my second set of AVS ES100's. I love them. They work really well for the weather here in the bay area. They're a decent dry tire with very predictable handling, and almost as good in the rain that we're seeing right now. Plus they seem to last me longer than any other tire of the same performance level that i've tried.

I've also tried the Kuhmo 712's that were on your list. They were fine on my RS, but on my GS-T no good. They didn't grip as well as the AVS ES100's. Felt like a harder tire and didn't even last as long as my AVS ES100's. Maybe cause of the constant wheel spin :p

Sorry I didn't saw the word 'budget', I was in my 'do it right once' mode, did you ever consider Ventus K104, I had it one summer and was really impressed, do wonders in water.

No one has love for the Sumitomo HTR-Z II's? I had them. Look great, great grip, treadwear was awesome. $30 cheaper per tire than the Ecsta MX with very comparable performance.

I have the ES100's and I love them. Only had them on for 1,300 miles so far and haven't driven in the rain yet so I can't comment about that. They are able to handle almost anything I have throw at them so far. They also have a 320 tread wear too I believe. I am even thinking about putting a set of them on my Altima when I need new ones on it.

I had them on my fwd and they were fine, lasted 30K...I replaced them with Dunlop D40M2's which I felt were better overall...same dry performance but longer life.

The es100's are sticky, but mine only lasted 10K on my awd. Also, my best 60' times were with the Kumho 712's, tho they didn't have near the same cornering response of the es100's or Dunlops. This is in a 225/50/16 size on stock rims.

i also work for a firestone and we sell lots of the fusion zri tires at our store. the customers really seem to love them and they hook pretty good also. thats what will be on my car
