Calgary,
I am sorry about the newbie question, I am new on here. I have had my talon (91 TSI AWD) for over a year, and recently got some summer rims / tires, under the assumption they would fit, but I am second guessing whether they will or not. They are 17x7 with +40 offset and 215/45/ZR17 Kumho tires. I used the offset calculator, but I have been told different things as to what the offset of the stock wheels are, is it 38 or 46? My car currently has the stock talon tsi wheels, with 205/55/16 tires. Thank you for your help in advance,
Jay

17x7 with a 40mm is perfect.

225-45-17 is the tire size you want to go with.

Stock tire is 205-55-16 which has an overall diameter/rolling height of 24.88"

205mm * .55 = 112.75
112.75 * 2 = 225.5
225.5mm / 25.4 = 8.88"
8.88" + 16 = 24.88"

A 225-45-17 has overall diameter/rolling height of 24.97"

225*.45 = 101.25
101.25*2 = 202.50
202.5 / 25.4 = 7.97"
7.97" + 17 = 24.97"

A 215-45-17 has overall diameter/rolling height of 24.62"

215*.45 =96.75
96.75*2= 193.50
193.50 / 25.4 = 7.62
7.62 + 17 = 24.62"

So the 225-45-17 is a definitely closer to stock. It will give you better traction than the 215, because it is both wider and taller. It will also offer more rim protection. the 225-45-17 will also look better.....the 215 will give more wheel well gap...which is ulgy

Thank you very much, i wasnt sure as to whether they would rub against the shock tower or not. They currently have 215/45/ZR17's so ill leave them on there until they are bald, and get some 225/45/17's. Thanks alot for the quick reply.
